Workout thread

I don't see it so I'm starting it. How was everyone's Monday? I did a great arm workout and then cardio. My BMI has gone down almost to overweight instead of obese. LOL

  • Did 30DS this morning.

    And brought both kiddos to a practice with me, so spent 3 hours with at least 1 of them in my arms, trying to keep them out of the way of the teens... can I count that as a second workout? : P

  • I ran and then did an interval class this evening. I felt like I was going to vomit. I also have boot camp in the morning, which makes me tired just to think about.

  • Did a lower body workout this morning that I am already feeling tonight. Gonna be sore tomorrow. I'm counting taking out my trash as my second workout, lol. It was all in my garage, which is below ground, and I had to drag it uphill up my driveway in unshoveled snow that was almost to my knees!

  • I haven't been in the gym for 10 days bc we were in Disney and I taught three classes back to back tonight. I got off easy though bc I took this morning off, otherwise I would have had 5 today. In not going to be able to function tomorrow.

  • Night off. Tired and aching.
  • Did my 30 minutes of cardio, then abs and shoulders yesterday.  Today it is arms and abs, probably not going to fit in cardio today...have a therapy apt at 3 today.  It is all good...I'll still get 4 days of cardio in this week :).  
    PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

  • Did upper body this morning.  It was mostly chest, back, and shoulders.  A little abs thrown in for funsies.  Plank to pike on the stability ball is still my nemisis.

  • I'm still struggling with carving out time to get it done but have gotten on the treadmill I think 3 times in the last week. I wish it wasn't so frigid out so we could go outside :(

  • I did my T25 workout yesterday, but in general lately I've been slacking big time. Between the stomach bug we all had a few weeks ago and now having a cold (Big time WTF!), my immune system seems to be sucking wind.

  • I decided to try Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism yesterday and it totally kicked my ass, but I'll definitely do it again. The more of her stuff I try, the more I like her. I didn't wake up in time to workout this morning, but I do plan to do something this evening.

  • Last night I did Turbo Fire fire 30. What a killer, but great workout. Tonight, my plan is to hit the gym for a run.

    I just ordered Shawn T's Focus T25. Iam so excited to get it in the mail next week, I can't hardly stand it!

  • I am so intimidated by weights @whocanitbenow.  I need to just go into my gym and have someone help me.  

    @missyishere, does your gym have any body pump or boot camp type classes? Those could get you some basic exercises that you could do on your own, if you don't want to hire a trainer. Those group weight training classes are a blast too!

  • @bluepointtoasted I am in a boot camp type class, but we rarely use weights.  There is a lunch time crunch, where they use weights.  It's difficult for me to attend that class, because I am restricted by my child since the gym doesn't have a daycare.

  • Hmmm, what about some online tutorials? Honestly, starting weight training was really the turning point for me and exercise. I always hated it and just went through the motions, but once I started weight training in 2008 I have never looked back, and now I can't imagine going more than a few days without a workout.

  • I'm not going to use the weights at my gym.   The guy I spoke with there said that because of my history of back problems, to use this one set of straps coming off a big metal frame and use my own body weight instead of using weights.  You hold the straps, lean back, and pull yourself up by the straps so your arms get a workout. 

    Maybe robin or GM know what this piece of equipment is called.  I can't remember the name of it to save my lyfe.

  • Dh uses trx quite a bit with his trainer, but I don't feel confident doing much more than a couple moves with it. I have totally bashed my kneecaps on the floor before trying to do knee ins, so I see the potential for injury! My old gym used to have a trainer who did trx only in this little room with a closed door, so I am not entirely sure he wasn't using it as done type if sex swing

    The dude at the gym.  Who is a personal trainer.  With a degree.   I'm not going to use the equipment without assistance, tho.  That would be dumb.

    If you went over your history with him and it was determined that was best in your situation, kewl. If it was a blanket "bad backs can't lift weights", well, he needs to go get his $150 back.

    No, it's a legit 4 year degree.   I told him about my history and whatnot and how the last trainer dude that helped me (the $150 kind) fucked my back up like whoa.

  • Not knowing what your issues are it sounds like he's telling you what you want to hear. Trx is great but for much of the program you need a strong core. If the core isn't properly engaged, there goes your back. With weights you can start super fucking light and build strength gradually

  • I didn't tell him anything about wanting to strengthen my back or work on my core.  I just told him that was in my history.  He said I'd probably want to try the TRX instead of using freeweights.

  • Bumping up rather than starting a new one.  

    Yesterday, I took the night off because I was tired and DH and I had some stuff we needed to take care of during my normal workout time. 

    Tonight I got back to it and had a decent workout.  The small gym I use was packed since we are  having crappy weather.  I am pmsing and want CHOCOLATE.  Now.  In large quantities.  Also fried, salty stuff.  

    I am going to try having a square of dark chocolate to handle cravings.  I'm low on calories today anyway, so I can afford it.  And maybe some olives.  GDI.
