DH and I are looking at the possibility of hiring a PT nanny. We have one LO right now with a second due in a few weeks. DD loves her daycare, but we'd alos love it if she could be home a couple days per week and it would be nice to have the two together. We did find someone we're interested in, but she's asking a bit more for an hourly rate than we expected. Granted, we knew we'd pay more, but when we did the math, it comes to an extra $4k per year for the two days. I guess I have two questions. One, is it rude to offer her a litlte less than she asked for if she seemed firm? And second, if you've had this kind of arrangement before, was it worth it to you?
Re: PT Nanny?
When figuring out your costs of having a nanny, don't forget to factor in a bonus, paid vacation and taxes. So if you haven't added all of that in already, it may end up being even more than $4k extra.
