Hi! Thank you for asking. :) It was lovely. My sister did a wonderful job of putting it together. She baked mini desserts, snacks, made punches (spiked and not), and made most of the decorations. And the most awesome part was seeing everyone we super enjoy spending time with come out and celebrate with us!

There was a small issue with the fella's sister-in-law (she's married to his brother), who just seems to have an on-going issue (she doesn't like Nate, because he and his brother are extremely close, and it threatens her). She was gossiping in the back with another family friend while we were opening gifts, whispering, but loud enough that it was noticeable. And then she decided to participate by making weird/rude comments about some lingerie I had opened (from my mother, of all people). Who does that openly? It embarrassed me, it made me feel badly for my mom (and the lingerie was lovely, so it was also out of place). Then, she'd promised my sister to help clean up, and then bailed early; so Nathan and I stayed to help clean up. :( It's amazing how one person can just insert themselves in the center of something intended to be a happy, and one-time, event for someone else. I wish she would resign from the bridal party, because she's not been the least bit helpful, and I don't have the heart (or the drama) to ask her to resign. Even my (almost) mother in law agrees that she's a huge gossip. ~X(

Her issues aside, it went well. It was very lovely, and everyone enjoyed the desserts, the space, the conversation. I felt very honored to have our friends celebrate with us. Very, very honored.

  • Glad the day was (almost entirely) so nice!

Sorry about the SIL-to-be.  All that behavior sounds maddening, but the highly audible gossip-whisper is the very worst.  My office neighbor does that.  It makes me want to rip my face off.

  • Sounds like a wonderful day. I love showers like that. You sound like you have a wonderful sister to do that for you. Put coo-coo SIL out of your head and just go about your wedding stuff thinking she isn't involved.

I think good advice was given here……focus on your amazing event and enjoy as much as you can! Put the cray cray SIL to the side and ignore as best you can.
