When do the cramps go away?

When does the cramping end? Or does it end? I'm 13 weeks, FTM, and still cramping. It's not really painful, just uncomfortable.

Re: When do the cramps go away?

  • I don't know when it ends… just want to say that I'm in the same boat.  I've had some discomfort the past few days, and I can definitely feel that things seem to be stretching/moving.

  • Hate to be the bearer or bad news but they stop once baby is born. Your ligaments keep losening (if that's even a word) to accommodate baby. I just remember getting use to the uncomfortableness.

  • With DD my cramping stopped at about 12-13 weeks and then went into braxton hicks around 27 weeks and then contractions around 34 weeks. This time I am still cramping but I am also having more complications this time.

  • Last time my cramps stopped by 8 weeks and started up around 25 (well, they were Braxton Hicks by then.) This time they're still going strong at 15 weeks. I do think I'm not drinking enough water though, and that did make a difference last time around.

  • Thank gosh for this post! I've been so stressed about these cramps! Glad to know it's normal and not just me! I'm just over 14 weeks and have been having light cramps on and off.
  • I stopped feeling a lot of cramping around 13 weeks or so, but I tend to feel more cramps when I haven't drank enough water? Maybe that will help!
  • Yes, that's a perfect way to describe them! I had them starting week 11 but they've gotten stronger lately, I'm 14w 3d. I haven't popped yet so maybe it's all for that, although others have told me they are common and can last the entire pregnancy :/

  • Thanks for the replies! It's not very painful and I kind of wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. I am better hydrating today and feeling better than yesterday.
  • Mine definitely come and go and I'm in my 13th week. They are mildly achy and I do notice it more when I feel thirsty so there is probably something to not being hydrated enough.

Hate to break it to you, but they DON'T go away after the baby is born.  They get worse, because after delivery, your ute has to go through contractions to shrink back down.  In fact, most BFing moms notice that contractions happen when nursing.  IIRC...  about two weeks after delivery they finally disappear.

    Dear Cramps,
         You suck.

I didn't think those cramps were bad and I bf for 6 mos. but then again I was so sleep deprived that I don't much of that first month. It was all kind of a blur. I do kind of remember having to wear the mesh undies with the industrial strength maxi pads. That was fun

Don't scare the FTMs yet! Mine did hurt the first two weeks post partum, especially while nursing, but stopped after that (I think, anyway -- that part is kind of a blur).
  • Mine went away and now they're back. BOOO. It feels like more of an intense pressure though? :(

  • I'm 14 weeks and had cramping yesterday most of the day , it's gone now but it does come and go along with the backache. I guess everything is stretching for baby!
