[2/9] Downton Discussion!

*****SPOILERS IF YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT UP*****

First of all, let me just say....the Dowager Countess cracks me up! Even when she's sick in bed! She's so mean to Mrs. Crowley!

Also, I was SOOOOO relieved when Edith got the hell out of that doctor's office! I mean, I know it's going to be hard for her to explain this pregnancy (I saw the preview for next week, and I'm not sure I like the way she might do it) but I'm glad she kept it.

I hope there are no Lady Rose fans here because she drives me BONKERS. I can't stand her...she's the worst. She's so selfish and irresponsible! GAH!

Annnnd, last...

Bates is going to fucking kill that guy. I just know it.

I've seen the whole season so I need to keep mum but I was so happy when Edith left that doctor's office. Over the course of the entire show, so many things keep happening to her to keep her as the downtrodden spinster sister, and she's acted so stupidly/naively in so many ways. I'm thrilled to see something genuinely interesting and with the potential for cool character development happen to her. Lady Rose is TOTALLY annoying. I LOVED Lady Sybil and I'm still bitter that she had to leave the show and they give us this chick instead. UGH!

Also, the gif in your sig is totally mesmerizing and I cannot stop watching it!

I know! Lady Edith gets the short end of the stick every single time. I'd like to see her catch a break! I'm still bitter about Lady Sybil too! I loved her.

And the gif in my signature cracks me up! It's just a huge disaster!

Ditto about Edith. I was so glad she kept the baby. I know her situation isn't ideal, but I'm glad she kept it. I honestly would be surprised if Michael came back.

Rose, yeah she's annoying.

I'm so glad Bates knows, but am nervous for what he is going to do. The valet does deserve something, but am scared how it is going to affect Rose/Bates.

Can anyone else see Mary and Blake eventually getting together? I guess that is unless Gilligan doesn't marry his intended.

Oh I can't wait for Bates to destroy that valet. Maybe the family will orchestrate some cover-up a la the dead Turkish guy in season 1. Just feed him to the pigs and tell Lord Gillingham that he must have run off or something. Done.

I am so glad Edith chose to keep the baby. I did not see any previews for next week but I am anxious about the next turn of events. Also I don't think Michael will return or it will be after the baby is born.

I really hope bates destroys that valet. I can't believe he returned so arrogant and confident. I wanted to jump through the screen at him!

Tehehehe. Can you imagine? Mr. Bates kills him and then Anna, Mrs. Hughes, Mary and co. carry his body out to the pigpen? That would go from "Yes!" to "dafuq?" real fast!

I love that there are so many Downton fans on here. I missed the first half of the show last night but turned it on right when Edith was headed to the doctor. Anyhow, I'm impressed by her gutsy decision and I think it will make for a great story line. Was there any update in the first half as to Michael's whereabouts (and did I miss any other important events there)?

The valet is definitely going down- Mr. Bates had to have figured it out based on Anna's reaction to him. Also, Mrs. Hughes was stellar in telling that jerk off. I love her!

caybeh, I definitely see Mary and Blake getting together- they have that fiery chemistry and the pig scenes were hilarious. It also would be a nice bookend to the whole episode with the Turk, who was also Mr. Napier's friend. (the only one I feel bad for is Evelyn Napier himself, poor guy keeps coming around to court Mary and his friends keep winning out instead!).

Finally, I think Branson's encounter at the lecture was interesting. I suspect he may bump into that young woman again. Very much looking forward to next week!

Violet always has me cracking up, especially when Matthew's mother told her that Gin can last forever, and her response was, "Oh, goody!" when she was basically thanking her for taking care of her while sick.

I did get really worried that they might kill her off, so I was relieved when her fever broke!

I think Mary is going to find herself falling for the guy she used to hate.

I'm glad that Edith is going to keep the baby, and that she had her Aunt Rosalind to support her no matter what.

Rose does drive me crazy. How old is she supposed to be?

I also think that either Mr. Bates is going to do something, or Mrs. Hughes is.

And it's awfully convenient that Thomas is not around to be a witness to such an event and be the turd he usually is.

I finally watched it last night and I am so glad that things are starting get exciting! Violet was seriously cracking me up from her sickbead!

The Edith story line will definitely add a lot to the show. I am dying to know what happened to Michael. I know it's a bad time in German history, but I can't really fathom how someone goes missing that easily? I hope she doesn't wait forever to tell everyone the news.

I was definitely surprised about Robert going off to America. I wonder if the show will follow him there? I'm thinking it will just focus on Downton while he's away though.

Before Michael seriously went MIA our Downton group (yes MH and I and our close friends do 'Downton and Desserts' ever Sunday...) fully believed he was going to become a nazi sympathizer and bring editih in to it. Who knows now, but it really seemed like it was leading to that, considering all the real life aristocrats who became sympathizers.

I want Gillingham's valet to die, but I don't want Bates to do it because I don't want him to go to prison. Again.

Rose sucks as a replacement for Sybil. The best that I can hope with her is that her own scandals will take some of the bright lights off of poor Edith. I understand Edith's decision, but I think she is going to have a really hard time living with it when society kicks her out. Unless of course Michael comes back, but it doesn't look good right now. I just hope we find our one way or the other. It will be weird if it just cliff hangs on he is missing.

I see Mary with Blake, but I think when Gillingham sees those sparks he is going to reconsider his engagement. And I do hope the woman from the speak turns out to be someone interesting for Branson. I like him so much I want him to be really happy.

I dunno guys, I kinda think Mrs. Hughes is going to be the one to take out Lord Gillingham's valet...

Also the scene with lady Mary and what's-his-face with the pigs was super cute, but I'm still rooting for her to get together with Gillingham.

I have seen the whole season, so I won't let any twists and turns slip. But I will say I think it just keeps getting better and better! Awesome season.
