What formula?

I think I am going to start supplementing with formula and weaning from the breast and eventually switch all the way over. Between a supply issue, and not pumping at home because I'm afraid to bring my pump into my house (I mentioned bed bugs at work in a previous post), I need to supplement. I never had any real breast feeding goal and am satisfied I made it this long.

Anyway, the point to my post. I need to pick up formula on my way home because there's no way she will have enough for the morning. And I have no clue where to start. What formula does your LO use? What's a good brand to start with? Should I start with something special/ gentle so she gets used to it? I'm lost.

When we started supplementing at 4 days old we started with Similac, then moved to a special formula for reflux.

I've heard the Gerber formulas are the most gentle at a reasonable price because they have the easier to digest proteins.

we tried similac and my lo spit up a lot with it and it stained his clothes. we then started using enfamil gentle just because we had a sample and he did great on it! now we use target up and up gentle (same exact ingredients as enfamil) because it's half the price per week of enfamil and my lo loves it just the same!

I supplement with Enfamil Gentlease. It's much easier on her tummy than the other ones we tried. Good luck!

I use the store brand of Similiac Sensitive. He didn't do well on any of the Enfamil ones.

I supplemented with Gerber Good Start way back in the begging, he's been on it ever since. He never had an issue with constipation and still poops 3x a day. It's cheaper but they don't send out as many coupons. I recommend getting it at BJ's if you a member. Also my pedi gave me a bunch of samples in the beginning to try.

I stopped BF early on and went to Similac (blue one) but LO had a lactose sensitivity and went to Similac soy. He spit up so much he has been on Similac Spit up for 2 months now and does great. I have heard great things about Enf gentle ease

We used Similac (blue) but DD had a hard time digesting it. DD refused Enfamil outside of the hospital (had to use at first due to latch issues). We go back and forth now between Similac supplemation and Similac for gas & lactose sensitivity.

I have started supplementing and use Gentlease as requested by my doctor. The supply issue has been an uphill battle for me as well.

This exactly! LO only takes one bottle at night of approx 3-4 oz just to get his vitamins in. If you didn't sign up with the Gerber program online, I suggest doing it. They sent some awesome coupons for a while. I would just use a April or May due date. Seems like they sent me a sample pack about 2 months before X was born.

Gentlease is really good! Similac made LO spit up so much. We switched to Gentlease and he did great. We recently switched to Enfamil AR because he started spitting up a ton on Gentlease and so far he has done great on AR. Good luck!

How do you go back and forth? I thought LO needs up to 2 weeks to adjust to 1 type of formula?

We use the Walmart brand (Parent's Choice) of Gentlease and it works really well for DD. We had been using the blue Similac at first and then the Costco brand of formula (which I believe is either Similac or Enfamil) but it gave DD painful gas. She does really well on the Parent's Choice Gentlease and it's far cheaper than the brand name stuff.

Emily must have a stomach of iron, or that's a YMMV on waiting 2 weeks for adjustment. We used all the samples we got in the mail and never had adjustment time. She never had issues with any of the formula. I decided I didn't like Similac only because the one we had was too foamy in the bottle and never settled down even after she'd finished it. I use Enfamil now and was going back and forth between the Gentlease (purple container) and the Premium Infant (yellow container) because I had good coupons. DH says that the Gentlease makes the bottles seem kinda greasy, so we stuck with the Premium Infant.

We have used most of the similac products.

Advance (blue) made LO constipated
Comfort (light purple) she used when she was a newborn (and I was breastfeeding still) but I hated the way it smelled so we transitioned to Sensitive (orange) once she got older and it works well for us.

She's tried Enfamil gentlease as a sample. She did okay.... I still buy similac because I get the checks regularly.
