High-Risk Pregnancy

Progesterone/high risk

I have a history of miscarriage and now I'm 4 weeks pregnant. My high risk dr ordered blood work and said my hcg levels were ok but my progesterone could be higher. Progesterone was a 14 they like it no less than 25. I am now on prometrium (orally 100mg) 3x a day. I've been having some lower back ache and I'm terrified to lose our baby again:( and success/advice for repeat mc and preg again?

Re: Progesterone/high risk

  • Progesterone can cause joint pain and back pain. As long as you're not bleeding or in bad pain I wouldn't worry. I've been on progesterone for my pregnancy and my back always hurts. Sometimes I get mild cramps and constipation. Low progesterone levels have caused mc that's y doctors are prescribing them. So far I've heard success storied from their use. Mine went down to an 8 with spotting. Md thought I would probably miscarry. Her colleague / another dr increased my progesterone to 400 mg 2 x day. I'm now 15 weeks and was told to stop last week and I'm scared to stop so I've been weening. Which there isn't any medically proven reason to I'm just afraid because my levels went so low. An 8 is pretty low. Take the medication. Some mc are caused my low levels. And some are caused by chromosomal abnormalities. So with the progesterone it will help you keep a viable pregnancy. And if it doesn't , it's your body's natural response getting rid of an abnormal fetus. But we are going to think positive. Your baby will be fine and healthy. This is the one that's meant to be here with you. Good luck. Speak positivity into the universe.

  • I am on Crinone which is progesterone gel, it makes me cramp and nauseated. Unless you are bleeding or something like that I wouldn't worry about it. Stay positive. <3
