og, I your fairly new so I'll give you some leeway. Generally it is frowned up to ask guests to bring a certain gift ie books, diapers, or whatever. Usually diapers are asked if it not the mother's first child. Even more awkward. I know diaper qs are popular in some groups, but it tends to look gift grabby. Also, I hope you aren't planning on hosting this event?
Peruse the baby shower board. Don't post though, they will rip you to shreds, but read some of the other posts gone wrong. That will help with proper etiquette. Baby showers are usually supposed to be for the mother and the mother going into motherhood.
Generally I concur with most of what the opinions are around here on baby showers...BUT I do disagree that a diaper shower is a bad idea. I had one that my work friends threw me. It was nice because the people I work with didn't have to spend a ton of money on some huge gift... They could spend $10 on a pack of diapers and call it a day. Plus, with twins, the diapers were SO HELPFUL.
That said...I hate to be Debbie Downer but I am against men at showers...and to call it Huggies and Chuggies???? Ugh. Just....NMS at all

I hope you're not calling it a huggies/chuggies party!!
But I don't see anything wrong with having a diaper party if it's the norm for your group of people. Everyone on my husbands side has one for their first. Its more of a reason to have a party !! And the diapers are a BIG help!!
Call me non traditional but what is the big deal calling a party Huggies and Chuggies and what is wrong having a shower for the men? Nothing. To each their own and you all have your own opinion don't place it on others as if that were the law of the land.
I saw the first response to this post from BSCMandi and got excited for a second that she had returned to O13. Alas, someone decided to bump a post from SEVEN months ago (I'm looking at you @kristikubic). My bubble has been burst.
This exactly! I was so excited for a BSCMandi return!

DH had a Dad-chelor party. All men, no gifts requested/expected, just brews, BBQ and boating. They had a good time and some of the guys brought gifts for the Dad-to-be including fancy rum and diapers.
hahahaha this feels like it was ages ago! we did have the party and we did call it huggies and chuggies! all the guys loved it too and i only had to buy one pack of newborn diapers havent had to buy any more. score for huggies and chuggies!
This is a great idea! We have three male friends who have had a Huggies & Chuggies BBQ. In all cases the BBQ was hosted by someone else, usually a good friend of the FTB. Basically, all his friends come together and throw the FTB a baby shower but all guests are asked to bring diapers as gifts. This is a good idea for men because it takes the guessing game out of the equation. Tell them what to bring and they'll bring it...usually. Think of this party as man night for the FTB. My only advice is to plan ahead to have several designated drivers on call.
Forget about the formalities. Especially if this is your first child. Go all the way, make it fun for him and for you! Chances are that family and friends are ready and willing to help out however they can.

lol, i saw this and was like..."uhh..have you been living under a rock? YES she's back". but i get it now. double time warp.
edit: i don't want to bump again! but check out @kmcantu 's post history. her one other post, she bumped a 4.5 year old thread lol.
My shower was jack n jill. In the invite my friend said there would be a diaper raffle. So many people brought diapers along with their gifts for the raffle, I was really surprised. I had enough just pampers bought for me that I didn't buy diapers for 7 months. And that with returning all the other diaper brands for other stuff. She gave out prizes for the raffle so it worked in my case.
Well this settles it! I was totally on the fence about that man shower but now I'm going to go ahead with it. It won't be awkward with an 11 month old will it?
Re: huggies and chuggies
What's a man shower? Is it only for guys? Like a bachelor party for the dad to be?
And no.
