Longer day light and putting to bed

So I live in the north and the day light is slowly become more noticeable during the evening. Right now it fine cause she goes to bed at 7:00 and its still dark, she wakes up at 8;00 and its just getting light. My only wonder if what to do in a few months when it's light. She has blinds and a black out curtain but still some light is able to sneak through, he room is also on the side of the house the sun sets on so it can be very bright in the evening.

Do I just continue to put her to bed and hope she sleeps?

Tin foil her window over?

Or any other thoughts?

Re: Longer day light and putting to bed

  • Could you get room darkening shades/curtains?

  • I guess it depends on how well she sleeps. At our old house with DS1, his bedroom faced the way the sun set. We always put him to bed at the same time(aroind 7:30) and had no issues. We only had wood blinds, nothing room darkening
  • I would play it by ear. If it became an issue what about putting black contact paper on the windows?

  • Does she not go to sleep when it's light? What about nap time?
Maybe if you keep her bedtime routine she will go down without a problem.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing about nap time. Even with a room darkening shade, it's pretty bright in DS's room but he sleeps fine during nap time. If she sleeps fine during nap, I wouldn't worry about night time.
  • She usually naps ok but it's not for long so I wonder if that's what she would do for bed time. I do have a blind and black out curtains already but there is still light that sneaks in through the sides.
