Red nipple

I noticed yesterday that E's left nipple looks red and swollen and it feels like there is a lump or a cyst underneath. It seems less swollen today, but still puffy. When I googled it said that it's common in newborns from hormonal surges, but can last for months. I was going to call the pedi and ask them if I should be concerned. Has anyone else's LO had red or swollen nipples? Her right nipple got red about a month ago and cleared up on its own so that's why I'm thinking this one will just go away too.

I have noticed that on and off with both my boys when they are little. They always cleared up and I never really brought it up to the doctor. We also have to be practically an ER case for me to call or go to the doc though! We've also had some scrotum swelling on and off over here as little guys which I did ask the ped about and he said it was hormonal surges too.

Please note that I am only taking the boys to the doctor in case of extreme emergencies as I am trying to train them NOT to be moaning, groaning wimps some day to their wives (or husbands!) when they have a cold or a tummy ache. I start to get all mushy and kissy when they get even remotely hurt and remind myself I'm making it extra hard for their SO someday by doing that! Haha
