AW: Gentle hands success! (Rusalka)

SHE CAN BE TAUGHT. Folks what don't know, we've been having some issues with smacking and pinching with DD, sometimes because she's excited, sometimes because she's frustrated, etc. Today she reached out to pet our cat and grabbed his fur and I told her to use gentle hands and asked her what gentle hands were, and she reached out and stroked my face very gently, which is what I've been modeling every time I ask her to use gentle hands (and up until now, she's not mirrored the action). BABY STEPS.

    That's awesome! I know who to ask for tips in a few months! DD loves grabbing my dogs beards, but is too young to understand still!

    pkaren, oh, man. I'll let you know how it goes. We've reached the point where she knows what she's SUPPOSED to do, but I wouldn't say it's her first impulse ;P

    Woo hoo!!! Huge milestone! Congrats, are you loaning her out to teach others??? My dogs have about had it with the head/face smacking.
    Me: 37 DH: 40 TTC since 9/09
    #1 BFP 1/10/11; missed m/c discovered 7w5d
    IF Dx: Endo, hetero MTHFR mutation, poor morphology
    #1 IUI: 1/18/12 = BFN
    #1 IVF/ICSI 4/2/12 = 2 x 7-cell and 1 x 5-cell transferred (3dt) = BFP!!
    H was born at 41w2d on 12/29/12 - be still my heart!
    #2 IVF/ICSI 1/19/14 = 2 x 8 cells transferred (3dt) = BFP!! EDD 10/09/14
    M&W born at 37 weeks on 9/18/14 - I am the momma of 3 boys!!!

    Good job.  We have had the same issue with DS and our dog, so there has been a lot of coaching on "gentle" where he pets with an open hand.  And just to remind me that it goes both ways I was trying to wipe some crusty boogers off of DS, and he grabbed my hand and said, "Gentle!"

    Gknauff79, this is Elinor exactly. Excitement and frustration. She's still smacking and clawing, but she's got an alternative behavior now and I'm trying to stop her before she can smack and reinforce that as a response.

    BFP#1 on 09/29/09 and EP discovered/Left Tube lost on 10/19/09 EDD 06/12/10
    BFP# 2 on 03/21/2010 EDD 11/30/10 Natural M/C on 3/27/10
