Crap... sick and c/s today

I was so hopeful that I had turned the corner and put all this sickness behind me just in time for the c/s. But alas, my luck didn't hold. Nasal congestion, sore throat, earache, cough have all set in again. My c/s is today at 5 pm. I know they will give me antibiotics anyway b/c I'm positive for GBS. I'm planning to do the neti pot and steam and tea today to try to break it up a little before I go in. I just really hate the idea of having surgery while I'm sick! But it is what it is. Any other ideas for last minute tricks to get some relief? I can't take any meds today or even eat/drink after 9 am so I am preparing for this to be a pretty rough day :-(

I also have not gotten a pre-op call from the hospital. I called the surgical scheduler at my dr's office last week and she gave me the basics- nothing to eat/drink for 8 hrs ahead, get there 2 hrs early, they will do pre-op labs then, etc. But it feels weird to me that they haven't called. I'm guessing it's just b/c it's Monday so the staff was off all weekend?? But then why didn't they call me on Friday? This was scheduled 2 mos ago and I have my official schedule notice that definitely says today at 5 pm. I guess I will just call my OB's office again this morning and make sure SHE will be there at 5 pm? And ask then what they will do about me being sick. Oh and more snow/ice moving in tonight. Yep... seems about right.

Good luck! Im sorry you are sick, grab some nose spray..I feel like thats a "remedy" that is often over looked! Ive been using some nose spray this week and its worked wonders!

Bummer! I was getting over a sinus infection for mine and was crazy stuffy. Interestingly enough, the stuffiness must have just been pregnancy related because within hours of him being born I was no longer stuffy. Maybe you'll be the same way! Good luck!

I'm sorry your sick

I hope you able to at least get some relief before, and have an extra pillow on hand to hug incase you need to cough post op.... Good luck Hun!

Thanks y'all! Good ideas here- going to try all the natural stuff. And hoping they will let me take a Benadryl before my cut off. I took a steamy shower and then did the Neti pot and at least have some temporary relief. Snow is not a concern for me... I will be at the hospital long before it hits. But my mom is supposed to be driving up to get the kids from school and I'm a lil worried about how tomorrow will go if they are housebound again! Oh and pretty sure this cold came from DD so I really hope she doesn't get worse!

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're feeling sick today.

I have no idea if this really works or not, but a friend of mine has a "cold cure" drink on her blog that I've made before when I wasn't feeling well. If nothing else, it feels good on your throat.

@slwprincess Re: having a cold--Did they make you wear a mask while you were in the post-partum unit? I have a cold, and I had to go to L&D for my NST and AFI yesterday, and they made me wear a mask (I was in triage) I think it made my cough worse. My induction is scheduled for Monday, and I'm hoping since they're private rooms I won't need to wear a mask. What precautions did you have to take with baby? TIA!
