I made a dress for lo yesterday. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It was my first time working with ruffles. Turns out lining them up along the hem takes a little finesse. I plan to make another in cotton. I was kicking myself for choosing minky fleece for my first attempt at a new pattern.
Eta Qotw: installing new lighting. When I purchased my house there was No light fixture in the living room ceiling. With the supervision of my contractor neighbor, I installed a new breaker and ran a new line. For some reason electrical stuff is hard for my brain to comprehend.
The baby shower I've been working on finally took place on Saturday.
Here is the cake, the tags for the favors (we had the cookies made) and the diaper cake I made.
There's a ton more I did but failed to get pictures
Qotw: redoing our bathrooms was the hardest thing I've ever done. We gutted them ourselves and entirely remodeled them on our own. I even chiseled away tile for a day so I could lay the tile I wanted. Hard, back breaking, but worth it. We were able to stretch our budget so far by doing all the labor ourselves.
I've been making soap for years and I notice a difference in my skin. Cold process soap needs to be made with distilled water so there are no impurities once the lye is mixed. You will see floaters if you use tap water usually. Rainwater is pure and I'm no chemist, but something about the PH level. People also use snow water

That's pretty awesome. I should try and make snow soap Thanks!

I would LOVE some snow water. I don't have any where I'm at. . It just all of a sudden started raining the last few days here in California. It was so nice!!

I finally finished DS's hat. I had put off the pom pom for almost a month.

I can't deny my hippy-ness, but a lot of soapmakers make it with rainwater. It doesn't rain here often so I'm suuuuuuper stoked.

If you do, let me know how it works out!!
