Dallas-Fort Worth Babies

Dallas parents! In need of your opinions

My family may be relocating to the Dallas area.  Currently we are living in Chicago... We have a 5 mo girl.
That being said, I have a few questions:
1. What is a great, middle class, safe suburb to raise a family?
2. In that same suggested area, any pediatricians and daycare centers that you recommend?
3. oh! and animal hospitals for our furry babies as well!

Thanks!

  • My brother moved from Evanston to Southlake and loves it. Creme de la creme is great for day care. If Southlake is out of your price range Frisco and Keller are nice too.

  • We are from Chicago and just moved here in the summer! We love it here!

    1. We live in plano now in an apartment, but we just bought a house in Little Elm.
Living in Plano was great when we first got here because we really wanted to be close to the city while getting to know the area, but not actually in Dallas.
I love Little Elm it's cute and a good distance from the city. It's equivalent to the northern suburb of Grayslake/Gurnee area from Chicago.

2.This might vary because there are so many people out there! We go to Healthy Kids pediatrics in Frisco

    3. No fur babies here so I can't help with that.

  • We live in Frisco and love it! The area is full of families with young kids and because it's being developed you can get a lot of property for your money. And, I'm a teacher so I can tell you with total confidence that the schools here are wonderful!
Welcome to Texas, if you do move here!
  • Another vote for Frisco! We love it here! We will use Dr. G. We have heard great things about him. Also, we only have cats and take them to a cat only vet in Allen. (Can't remember her name right now.) good luck!
  • We just moved to the Mid-Cities area and love it.  We are right in the heart of the DFW metroplex and it is a diverse but still middle-class area.  We are in Euless but our girls go to school (daycare) is in Bedford and it's a great town, too.

  • While all of the places people listed above are great (I live in Frisco and love it too), do you know where you are working?  I would never recommend Frisco to someone who is going to work in Fort Worth, for example.  DFW is HUGE, so it really helps to know where you will be working and what type of commute you want.

It is best to know what area you will be working in. Then determine from there the commute, I live in Lewisville and work in Plano, it's about a 15 to 30 minute drive based on traffic and tollways. We are moving to Flower Mound within the next couple of months, which have really good schools of LISD.

  • We moved from Chicago to TX 5 years ago! So welcome!!

Frisco and Plano are great kid/family friendly areas. And wait till you see what you can get for your money housing wise!!

Our pediatrician is Dr. Jay Schwartz at Collin County Peds and we adore him!

    Good luck on your move!

This. We live in Richardson, which is an older burb with a good school district. We could have gotten more house and better schools in McKinney or Frisco, but then I'd be looking at 1-1.5 hour drive home in the evenings from near Downtown Dallas.
