Should I worry?

I've been not feeling well the last three days with a head cold and sinus congestion. I took one dose I cold medicine yesterday and that's all. Since I've developed this cold I don't feel like my baby has been moving as much as he use to in the last three days. Should I worry? Or is this normal because my body is trying to recover?

Re: Should I worry?

  • Baby could have just moved positions. My LO tends to switch positions every few days.

I agree with calling the doctor if you are worried.

  • When I was sick, I felt her less. No idea why, but we're both well now. She's been kicking for 30 minutes.

  • I'm no doctor, but when I am not feeling great, I rest more.  If you aren't feeling well, I'm sure baby isn't feeling 100% either and is probably just resting more too.  My suggestion, go get some sudafed and take that.  It's the one safe thing us pregnant ladies can take.  If you still aren't feeling baby move tomorrow, put a call into the doctor.

  • I wouldn't worry unless you have been feverish. It might be worth calling your nurse helpline anyway. Feel better!
  • Not sure about  being sick affecting it, but depending on how far along you are (like less than 25-28 weeks) it's totally normal for movement to come and go.  Some days I would go 2-3 days without feeling anything until I got to about 22 weeks (basically now).

  • They still spend a lot of time sleeping. As long as you're feeling some movement, I think you're okay, but you can always call your doctor if you're worried.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Call your doctor. They would know more then us.
  • Yes, agree with calling. It will help ease your mind.
  • Some meds like Benadryl can cause a sleepy baby. I know that from asking the dr. Do u do luck counts? Might try those for a baseline. The dr office really is used to getting all these worried mommy questions and more. Always call.
  • I asked my doctor this last week she said that it is normal at this stage to not feel him for an entire day & consistent movement will start 25-28 weeks.

  • I've been sick the last 3 days, and baby's movement has been less than typical (not enough to worry me, but I'm just saying I'm right there with ya). If you are that concerned though, I would call and get peace of mind.
