July 2013 Moms

This is a post about poop.

We've had multiple nights this week without a MOTN poo.

All poops have been thicker.

Yesterday he only pooped 4 times.

Today so far he has only pooped once. ONCE! And that was at 11am - he went from 7:30 last night to 11am without a poop.

His skin is finally getting a chance to really heal and stay that way.

All of these things are very very good.

Anyone want to talk to me about poop? What's new in your diapers lately? How are our rashy babies faring?

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts!
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.

Re: This is a post about poop.

  • I think we have had maybe two days where DD has pooped only once. Those days were glorious!!!

  • George had food for the first time yesterday. Bananas. Super thick and seedy poo. Super sticky. Awesome.

We made our own baby wipe solution and use flannel wipes and G's rash issue seems to be at bay.

    Yea Luke! Congrats!!

We've sorta normalized around 2-3 a day though today he totally skipped the am poop and didn't go until around 5pm!

We've continued to have success with the toilet too, tho we seem to reset our pooy diaper "days without incident" counter at 4 days. Can't seem to make it past 4 days...I'm not complaining tho.

Prunes seem to be our only real nemesis at this point.

ETA I'm an idiot I forgot to mention GO LUKE! I'm so happy his poor bum is getting a chance to heal, its so hard when they are sore...i imagine how uncomfortable i would feel :(
  • Why oh why does it have to happen as soon as I put him in carseat. Doesn't matter if it is 9am or 6pm. I don't even bother to change his clothes when we go out just take outfit I want him to wear with us.

  • @mimi4347
It's excellent that Luke spaced out his poops so his bottom can heal! But just one poo a day probably means he's saving up for a BIG ONE! Beware Mimi!

Agreed! Glad your bums better Luke!

We have been eating breast milk, formula and solids so poops here are a total crap shoot.

  • Go Luke!!

Hunter's rash seems to be controllable with one cream... One very expensive cream... That comes in teeny tiny tins. Why, Dimpleskin's Bum Bum Balm, why??

  • Go Luke!

My kid poops everywhere at least once a day. And he is guaranteed to poop if I especially like his outfit. He has only been drinking 8 oz at dc and he STILL poops everywhere. It really is a gift.

  • When I read poo posts, I always sing in my head from Team Umizoomi on Nick jr. - "Super Shit!" Instead of "Super shape!"
Penelope pooed while pulling up to stand. I was kinda impressed. Like a reverse squat. "Super shit!"
And congrats to Luke. Diaper rashes are awful. And to have it for so long is hard!
  • We switched from alimentum to the blue Target brand after the pediatrician said milk was no longer a no-no.
Poop started getting painful, so we added prunes.

Holy hell. Those prunes really do a number on the digestive tract, don't they. On the one hand, yay for no hard poops. On the other hand, she has managed to decorate the jumperoo, the changing table, the crib and her highchair in prune-colored excrement (on separate occasions).

  • Yeah Luke! Way to go (or actually, NOT go)!

Gavin pooped this afternoon...ok, NBD, I changed him. Literally 10 minutes later, he's sitting on my lap and all of a sudden I sniff...yup, another giant poop! WTF kid, couldn't you do it all in one shot? I'd ask what you ate, but since I'm the one feeding you, I know the answer already!
  • Noah has been constipated for the last week :( We started giving him glycerin suppositories yesterday and he's managed to poop three small, mostly hard poops and he's had a couple sharts so at least it's progress but I know he's got more waiting to come out. Prunes have not helped our little guy.

Zoe normally only poops 1-2 times a day. And they have been so sticky since shes been eating more purees. And it always seems to find a way to go up her back. Even when theres not much poop, its still tends to find its way out the back of the diaper. :-q

But when I picked her up from MILs today she had different clothes on. I assumed she pooped up her back. MIL said no..she hadn't but when she went to change her poopy diaper, DD decided to try to roll. Haha. She loves doing that too.  @-)

    And yay for Luke! :)

  • Woohoo Luke! Isaac has moved on to what look like normal poops. No more breast milk poos here. They are thick and green/brown. But thankfully he's a normal once a day pooer and I'm usually at work for it. Lol.

  • DS has been refusing to poop with a diaper on since starting solids. This is both awful and wonderful. Wonderful because we have been lucky enough to get it in the toilet every time so far. No gross diaper clean up is great. Awful because I know we aren't always going to be so lucky. I am not looking forward to poop on the ground.

It also made DH proud yesterday when DS had his first double flusher poop. It's amazing how much poop he can hold in there.
