  I second Lysol wipes. I use them on everything, and they won't soak the book.

  Yea probably wipes.
  The one sanitizing tip I did learn with ds1: don't boil the kazoo. (At 2 he was totally into a kazoo but I went on a sanitizing rampage after he got strep 2x. The kazoo no longer buzzed after that.)

  I have some baby sanitizing wipes that supposedly sanitize but aren't soggy wet.  I think they are made by Munchkin?  It's for teethers/binkies on the go, but I bet they would be great for books.  I could get up and check but I'm lazy.  They are made with baking soda- I use them on everything!

  Just set the book up so the pages are fanned after you wipe them so they dry and don't stick together.

  This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! 
  DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
  131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....

  We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.

  Does the Lysol leave a residue that's bad for baby to get on their hands and in their mouths? Germs scare me less than some chemicals.

  I usually wipe down with a damp cloth after using lysol wipies.  I feel like maybe it would "rinse" off some of the chemicals.  Probably does nothing. .Meh.
