2nd Trimester

What are your ideas for your nursery?

We're going to try for sometime next week to find out the sex...I'm super excited!!

I am in love with the Nautica Bedding from BRU.  I could use so many things to bring the theme in the room together if we in fact do have a boy.

If its a girl, of course, we have a lot of ideas picked out too.

  • I love the Nautica bedding too :) We are also looking at the ahoy matey set from BRU. If we having a girl, I had picked out a cute set from PBK; it has yellow hibiscus flowers and sheep.?

  • I am doing a starts and moon theme.  I found the cutest bedding at Wal-Mart.

  • Obviously, we won't know the sex for awhile.  Regardless, we plan to paint the room a light khaki/brown color (DH doesn't want to do pink or blue) and have already picked out a cherry crib.  We will borrow a cherry rocking chair from my mom (the same one she used when I was a baby!)  As far as bedding goes, we've seen some things we've liked, but haven't made any definite choices yet.
  • Ours is gender neutral, but has some teddy bears. Orange, yellow, and browns.  I like it.

  • I am doing a bull dozer/construction theme. There are lots of choices for bedding so we haven't decided that yet but I love the big trucks and caution signs and roads. :-)

  • My husband's a bit of a nerd and totally into comics (more specifically - batman). We'll be doing a Batman theme. since you can't find too much baby bedding with comic book characters my mom will be making the bedding and curtains.

What we like most about the idea is that it should be able to carry him through more than just the first couple or years, so we won't have to re-do the room any time soon.

  • The focus of our nursery will be around this...and we are using the same pale yellow on the walls

  • Monkeys...kind of gender neutral.
  • We're doing a puppies theme for our little boy (using Playful Puppies by Sumersault).  Not overkill, but just enough.  If we were having a girl, I had picked out the Pottery Barn Kids Penelope bedding and then some bird wall decals from Etsy (can you tell I was convinced it was a girl, haha).

Be careful with the BRU stuff, you tend to pay for more things than you need in the set (diaper stacker, etc.) and the quality isn't always as great.  Besides with a spring and summer babies we don't need heavy bedding.

    Good luck!

  • Some people think my theme is odd.  I have been collecting Marilyn Monroe photos for years and so we polkan to use them in our little girls room.  Most are black and white, we will have pink walls and black furniture, with this bedding...

  • We are painting the walls taupe, and putting in white wainscotting.  We are looking for a crib in a cherry finish, and we like antiques, so we'll probably use a dresser we can find at an auction or estate sale.

For the bedding and upholstered pieces, I am using a toile fabric that is taupe and horizon blue, along with gingham and striped fabrics, to make a bed skirt, cornice, and then upholstered glider.

My whole goal is to have a very soothing nursery.  I'm excited about it!

  • I learned that you really don't use much of the bedding sets - the bumper was in for like 2 months- then we got a breathable bumper... the blanket never got used... all you really see is the crib skirt- b/c the sheets get changed so often...

so with the twins i'm going to just get/make 2 crib skirts and do an orange, blue, brown, white color scheme.  I found an orange crib skirt i like - and will get blue/brown sheets and the blue/white breathable bumper for each.

They think it's 2 boys - but if for some reason one of them ends up being a girl- i'll play up the orange more and do some orange flower type stuff on her side... and stripes on the boy side- otherwise we'll have a large striped section going around the room -with blue walls.

  • Me & my mom are making white-tail deer bedding for either a boy or girl. DH is a avid hunter and wanted camouflage but I couldn't do that to a girl so we compromised.
  • I designed my bedding custom through pinecreekbedding.com (Over the Moon). I based it off the Abby collection (minus all the bright pink) and for the boys I combined several different bedding patterns.

This was the most cost effective, flexible company that had fabric I liked after looking at thousands of bedding choices and companies.

My theme is mainly green, off white and brown... for a girl a tad bit of light pink will be added. I find out Monday what I am having... ahhh!

  • If it's a boy, we'll do a Nautical theme.  I am going for more of a sailboat theme than just boats in general or pirates.  DH and I LOVE to sail, and have lots of great pics from our trips we can frame and use around the nursery.  We are going with white furniture and I like this bedding:

If it's a girl, I'll have to start from scratch, but will do something girly.. probably pink, green, and white

We are using this bedding set (Laura Ashley Gabriella) and Munire's Newport Olde World Crib in classic chesnut color.   Right now our walls are cream.  We're going to stain a chair rail to match the crib and paint the lower half of the room the dark green color (on the leaves) from the bedding.  image

  • We are having a little boy and we wanted to do something slightly modern looking. The walls are a light Mocha color. The crib and changing table are cognac. For bedding and decorations, the colors will be sage, light blue and chocolate brown. I found argyle bedding with chocolate corduroy piping on one side. The rest of the bedding has cute stripes and other shapes.
  • Our nursery is two tone green- a light green on the top of the white chair rail and a dark green below. Our furniture is a dark mahogany. We're going to incorporate white, beige and chocolate into the room as well. Since we're not finding out the sex- we're keeping it neutral.

Our bedding is just sheets! The sheets have green, brown and beige circles on them. No bumpers, etc.

We're also adding some white birch trees to the walls and adding the quote "When I count my blessings, I count you twice."

  • If it's a girl, I want to do a fantasy-garden idea. The walls are green, which will work out either way. If it's a boy we're thinking vintage cars/planes/trains etc...
  • for the girl's room i like the idea of something girly and sophisticated (which is funny because i'm not the girly type). ?but i was thinking of decorating in pink and white with black furniture. ?i like the idea of porcelain wall plaques depicting flowers, fake flowers in vases and perfume bottles and stenciling a sweet TS Eliot quote over the window. ?i also have a framed black and white marilyn monroe pic i thought of using. ?and for a boy we were thinking music. ?we'd decorate in sage and white with black furniture and i would like framed black and white photos of musical instruments in the room and anchoring my guitar to the wall. ?regardless, there will be a strong literary undertone. ?i still have every book i've read growing up so i'm thinking we'll need two book shelves lol. ?
  • We plan on not finding out the sex so we are doing a very neutral theme. My H and I both love Van Gogh and have chosen several prints for inspiration. The walls are a golden yellow and the furniture is a matte black from baby's dream with a matching dresser/hutch. I think if it didn't have a crib then you wouldn't know its a baby's room. We just found a huge rocker/recliner at a second hand store in moroon. Probably not most of your styles. I'll post pics later when its done.
