Babies on the Brain

Fucking H and his google use!

I have this weird gurgle in my thigh. He googled. I'm going to die in my sleep of a blood clot. Why do we google medical problems? Now my leg hurts. It's hot! It's everything webMD says is a clot.

I'm going to make an appointment for tomorrow, if possible

  • In reality it's probably a strained muscle.

  • Yesterday morning I had this tearing/burning sensation in my lower abdomen/pelvic area on one side. After entering a few sensation symptoms, Dr. WebMD told me I needed to get to a doctor stat. The pain was gone after an hour. So dumb.
  • Hey MW! (lurking)  I have not heard of a "gurgle" but unfortunately have experience with blood clots.  I always think it feels like a pulled muscle, but that gets worse instead of better.  If there is an obvious bulge, warm to touch and/or redness, you might want to keep your leg elevated on a pillow tonight and see how it is in the morning.

Hopefully it is nothing, and not to be alarmist - but if you do feel any chest pain or shortness of breath whatsoever, go to ER/call 911 immediately!

Are you on hormonal BC, or do you have a history of clots in your family?  Those things just increase your risk of getting a blood clot, but I hope it is gone in the morning and nothing to worry about.

  • @sister13- I have a blood clotting disorder and a hearty defect. I do not play with chest pains or shortness of breath. I cannot take BC. Thanks for the advice.

I am 90% sure it's a muscle spasm and strained muscle. Job two requires a lot of squats and movement.

  • I hate Google too!  I did that throughout my entire pregnancy and when my son was a newborn.  It made my anxiety and PPD way worse!  I have pretty much sworn off of Google!  Hope I can stay off the next time I'm pregnant.
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

Oh wow, okay.  I figured you knew but wanted to make sure - I'm always giving my sister this speech because she doesn't like to go to the doctor.  Neither do I, but after my last blood clot (combined with other complications) put me in the hospital for two days and almost put me in emergency surgery, I know I can't be cavalier about it when I have any symptoms at all.  Hope it's better soon!

That's why doctors hate google too..I had one tell me they deal with patients all day who are convinced they're dying. I don't remember what exotic disease I self diagnosed to inspire this comment, but it was a winner. Funnily enough I did have an exotic parasite, just not the brain eater I was convinced of.
For years I was terrified of the brain-eating amoebas that claimed something like 11 lives over a 10-year period. I warned everyone I knew about the peril that enjoying a sunny day in warm, stagnant, fresh water could cause.

Nobody took me seriously until Netti Pot water started taking people down. It's still an incredibly ridiculous fear but I stand by it. That shits serious.

Are you still experiencing the same symptoms? Probably nothing and you seem to be looking out for the right things - to throw another warning sign out there: check one thigh against the other, if one is visibly larger, especially if redness and swelling, then it's a good sign that it may likely be a clot. You may already know this, esp. if consulting with Google. The nurse in me can't help herself.

ETA: It would probably be significantly larger due to stasis of the blood in the area versus swelling like with an injury.
