NBR : Chopy chop, hair cut !!

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic

I am seriously debating chopping off my hair. I know that in my DH's mind "women" have long long hair, however I have never had long hair even when we met. I have been growing my hair for the last year and its just at my shoulders now. I HATE IT....so bored.
I need some opinions on taking the plunge and chopping it off. My mom and sis vote YES....I always wear my hair in a bun and they hate it LOL
I put a pic to show my face shape ( also my hair was super long-for me- at my wedding ) then pics of the hair style Im thinking of.
Opinions ??

  • I love the short, choppy cut. I am too chicken shit to do it, but I think you should do it so I can live vicariously through you!

  • I like the first haircut the most, but seriously - what's up with your husband?

WTF? Chop it. That's a ridiculous idea for him to have about women.
  • I agree fully ! It is ridiculous...it would never hold me back from cutting it though.

I will add my 2¢ - I would never chop off my hair while pregnant. Your face and nose can swell and hair is sometimes a security blanket for me if I'm feeling not so hot.

That being said, the cuts would be cute on you!

    What? Noses swell?!

  • I love that type of hairstyle. I think it would look awesome with your face shape too. You'll look beautiful. I'm sure your husband will love it, it's just probably hard for him to imagine it..
  • I love the short looks. Go for it!

    @bebemac

Knock on wood, it didn't happen to me last time, but 2 very close friends of mine got the pudgey-est noses while pregnant! It really changed the way they looked.

    Ah, the joys of pregnancy...

  • I like the second picture.  It's very similar to the pictures I took when I got my hair cut last time.

  • I like the first one but I would wait until after baby comes. PP is right about face can swell up and then you may not like it as much. But if you always had short hair and if you really just wanna do it now I say go for it! :-)
  • The first look is a bit edgier. Which goes with your personality better?

  • @amwangel Wow! That looks so good - I bet it feels good, too! 12 inches! Did you donate it?

  • I recommend doing it in stages. I've had 3 friends do the cut in the second picture and they all hated it. Not the cut but the upkeep. Try the longer version in the first picture and if you like t you can always go shorter. Very cute though

  • both are super cute!  i think the 2nd one looks easier to maintain.  i like easy to style hair, so i would lean towards that one but both are great

  • I love the brunette hair cut. It would look great on you. Do it!!
  • They'll both look good on you. The second one seems easier to style, but I'm basing that on my own hair which is nothing like yours and would never do the first look. I like @ElTrain5 's suggestion about cutting in stages. And my H is just like yours about long hair.

  • I say, if you want to do it, do it!  Hair grows back so it's definitely not a decision that you'll always have to live with if you don't like it.

I'm thinking of doing the same, but at the end PG, right before this LO is born.  My hair is long to begin with, plus it's been about 6 months since I got it cut AND PG hormones are making it grow even longer.  I'm thinking of continuing to grow it out until about a month before baby is due, then cutting it really short and donating the hair.  The way I look at it, it will be really nice to have easy to style hair once baby is here!

  • In my opinion (take that for what it's worth) I've been a stylist for 10 years and my clients all know I wouldn't chop off their hair while pregnant lol. It is a common thing for women to do, and 90% regret it. Just remember short hair is actually more up keep and with a newborn you may miss that bun. I vote wait a few months and see how you feel.
  • Thanks everyone for your input !! I have an apt with my stylist for Thursday but Im not 100% sure what Im going to do yet :) Thank god for pinterest and good stylists !! LOL

  • Im also a hair stylist, I think you have the perfect face shape for it. It would look great!! However, a layered short cut like that is alot of up keep. If you dont mind the maintence, than go for it! :))

  • I have a very short a symmetrical cut, have always had short hair and loved it short, but being prego and my face rounding out has made me kinda hate my short hair, I would suggest that you wait to cut it real short, maybe like OP said take a little off at a time and see if your comfortable taking more then go for it little by little.
  • A bit over a year ago, I chopped my hair from shoulder length to a pixie cut.  It took a lot of prep (and pinterest!  I pinned Ginnifer Goodwin photos for weeks), but I am so glad I did it!  It does require a lot of upkeep as far as haircuts (every 6-8 weeks), but it is SO easy to manage.  My long hair was always in a ponytail, and with short hair, I have to take 5 minutes to style it, which feels nice.  I also put on a bit of makeup more to accentuate my eyes.  It feels good to put time into my appearance, but not so much time that it is hard to do with kids at home.  I think you should give it a try.  If the style goes with your face shape, the change can be a real confidence booster.  I too like the brunette style :-)
