Is it finally time to see a doctor? (Might be TMI)

All of my life, I have had a slight problem holding in my urine. As soon as I have to pee that's IT, I have to get to a bathroom right then or I'm going to struggle.

It was never a HUGE problem until I started to get older. When I need to pee, it doesn't stay in my bladder anymore, it is like in between my legs so It is hard to get to a bathroom. Recently, It has become even increasingly harder. When I was little I was taken to the doctor for it but he basically said I would grow out of it, that it was due to me not wanting to stop what I was doing to go. I literally just coughed and peed a little in my work chair..I'm so embarrassed! I am worried that when I do get pregnant and have kids, It will get worse. Time to see a doctor? Does anybody have any issues with this?

  • I would go and ask for an evaluation of your pelvic floor muscles and related parts. They can evaluate your strength when doing kegals, etc and recommend a course of treatment if you need it. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the replies ladies, just have to wait until my new insurance starts and then I can go.

    @AudeSapere89 I'll let you know

    Yep.

    Also, see a urogynecologist. They're a subspecialty of gynecology and deal specifically with women's pelvic floor/urology issues. It could be physiological (weak muscles, something didn't develop correctly so you have less muscle mass, damage during childbirth, etc) or it actually can be hormonal in nature as well. Good luck.
