I'm sure this has been posted in the past but suggestions on good (reasonably priced) convertible car seats? We have a Ford Explorer and I am starting to research this next purchase. Thanks
I'm probably in the minority...but I'm not a fan of our Britax. It's a huge seat and I drive a pretty good sized car (Acura MDX). my passenger seat can hardly be moved back due to the size of the britax. It takes up a ton of room, the straps are difficult to fasten and forever getting twisted and their customer service has not been effective. We had a recall on the seat straps and it took them 3 months to get the remedy kit to us. That was with about 5 phone calls and double the emails and wrong parts sent to us.
Since we paid around $250 for it, we've kept it but when we went to buy a second convertible seat for DH's car we steered clear of that brand. I wasn't able to do a ton of research because we needed something quickly, but we went with an Evenflo Symphony as our second seat. DH said it was an easy install, and super easy to get her in and out of.
Chicco next fit and all the Gracos size for me/ my size/ headwises have some if the highest rear facing limits . be aware that the britax seats though great are outgrown faster then most because the shell of the car seat is shorter. You could also look into the Dionos they are really nice .
I did a lot of research and asked a lot of people for recommendations. I had a hard time choosing between the Chicco Nextfit and the Britax Pavillion. I took DS with me and strapped him into each and they were very comparable. We also measured them in their various positions to see what would give us the most room (again there wasn't much difference in size when they were reclined the same). We ended up with the Nextfit because there was a crazy sale on it (got over $100 off) and since I needed 2 it was the smartest option. I don't think one is really better than the other since they both have their strong points. Maybe go look at different ones in store and then keep an eye out for a good sale (which could be your final deciding factor).
