sleep (or lack there of)

As much as I dont want to force any type of sleep training upon my ds, I am starting to worry that his quanity and quality of sleep is not at its prime... does anyone have any experience (positive or negitve) with jay gordons method or that in the happiest baby on the block guide to sleep book? Or any votes that I just wait it out and assume hes getting what he needs, sleep wise, because he is happy and meeting milestones? Or any other gentle ideas for helping my lil guy get the kind of sleep he needs for his growing body and brain? Thanks

(Brief baseline -.hes almost 13 mos; nurse to sleep around 730 and transfer to crib, up by 10 or 11 then nurse to sleep in my bed, cosleep and nurse 3-5 times on average, up for the day between 6&8)

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't sound like too bad of a routine. He's waking up a little more than you'd expect for that age because he's co-sleeping and stirs when you do but he's averaging about 11 hours at night.

Does he nap during the day?

Edit to add: He seems to be getting enough if he's getting some sort of nap during the day.

  • He does nap for about 2-3 hours total over two naps...

and Yes, it could be much worse - he goes back down quickly after nursing, and he does add up to about 10ish hours a night,... but because it is so broken, I was unsure it is the same quality?
  • When I nursed my daughter to sleep she would wake up every 2-3 hours to nurse again.  She wasn't hungry she just wanted the comfort.  I changed her bedtime routine when she was 11 months and put her down still awake.  She had two rough nights and now she is a pretty good sleeper.
