What can I give/send

What can I give/ send to my sister. She just got offered her dream job after job hunting for over a year. We live about an hour apart but I won't see her anytime soon. I'm so happy for her. I was thinking flowers, but it is an off season (plus with valentines day) I wouldn't be able to get her anything very nice. I was thinking a card with a gift card but I really only have an extra twenty or so this week and feel like I could make that stretch if I did/ got her something myself? Does that make sense? Any suggestions?

  • Does she like fruit? You could send one of those edible bouquets or strawberries. My guess is that with valentines day and all the promo codes floating around you will likely get more bang for your buck that way since shipping is often free.

  • Pro flowers has an arrangement of Lilies that is usually $19.99. I've sent them a few times.
  • I just saw a commercial for Sherries Berries, they were advertising $19.99. I'm about ready to order them for myself because they looked so amazing!

  • Could her work wardrobe use a refresher?  If you know her taste and don't mind scoping sales racks you could get her a nice blouse or scarf or piece of jewelry to perk up her basics.  And write a note about how you want her to stand out on her first day even though she's already a standout to you :) Corny!

Or something for work like a travel mug, a water bottle for her desk (I so need this!), photo frames (especially if she has kids/family that she'll be away from for the first time in a while).

  • I use orchids.com a lot to send plants (they have some inexpensive ones in bud/bloom usually), or I'll get a small living plant from the florist delivery places. It's something she can take to her office, and lasts longer than cut flowers (and you can usually get them pretty inexpensively).

  • That's super sweet! Maybe a coffee gift card for somewhere near her office and a new mug for her new office?
