PSA...nobody likes being told how to respond

You know what is a good way to bring out the snark? Tell people, "Be nice" or "Don't leave any nasty comments." If you think you have to say that, maybe rethink your special snowflake post.

  • Haha oooohhh I learned this the hard way the first time I joined the bump about a year ago! I'll never make this mistake again!!

Sometimes I wonder if they tell their in real life friends and family to only respond nicely? Does it work there?
I actually have never done this, but I feel like I should.... what's the worst that could happen?!?  ;)

Every time someone writes this in a post I start getting grumpy (whether I actually agree with what they're saying or not).  You basically know by post 5 there's going to be someone who has given an alternate view (because, hi! this is the internet) and then they're going to come back and be like, you big meanies from the land of meanie!!  you're so mean!! *cry cry cry*.

Haha yeah...it's like a neon sign saying, "I'm likely to throw a temper tantrum!"

  • It's almost funny to me how every single time someone says that, they later come back and personally attack the people who disagree with them. I sometimes try to guess by the person's avatar and grammar what the forthcoming insult will be ;-). Are we all passive aggressive miserable women? Are we bullies? Are our children and husbands unlucky to have to deal with us every day? Time will tell!

  • Very true- it's not like people ever feel the need to post the "be nice" warnings when they're pouring out their heart about a loss or something equally devastating when it would be logical, it's almost always before a temper tantrum or something completely against proper etiquette.  High five!

I have 4 SILs, and they'd eat me alive if I prefaced a moronic question or statement with this.

  • As some one who lurked back on BOTB when it was the "meanest" board on the nest, it's fucking laughable how this shit goes down now.

I would love to see how most of these posters handled that bunch. Or should i say would be handled.
