Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Hi ladies,

This article (linked below) came out of the University of Washington recently. I have spent years studying and practicing mindfulness meditation as it (along with a regular yoga practice) helped me manage some pretty significant stress and depression in my early- and mid-20s (I stopped some heavy meds after a couple years of regular practice). There's a program in Seattle, associated with my fertility clinic actually, that does mindful-based stress reduction fertility group counseling, support and yoga (all rolled into one). I was signed up but backed out due to the cost of the program and time associated right now (#wedding). BUT, I do highly recommend the TTC ladies looking into some form of mindfulness practice, and/or even a 5-min per day meditation - whether that's with a teacher or at home.

I feel very strongly about the positive results associated with mindfulness/meditation practice. There are even programs in local, national, and international prison systems that help those incarcerated practice mindfulness meditation (programs are voluntary), and recidivism rates (reoffending rates) have gone down drastically in those who practice regular meditation. It's incredibly healing not only for your mind/soul, but physically for your brain, which has very positive effects on your body in return.

I wanted to throw this out there for anyone open to some kind of alternate assistance with the stress and emotions resulting from TTC (and life in general!). I'm NOT a doctor. But, I am a practitioner and student of mindfulness meditation for many years. It takes practice to feel calm when you sit for meditation; it doesn't come to you right away - that feeling of undistracted calm. But if you're patient with it, it's well worth the practice.

love you all! xo
