Alcohol cravings anyone???

I've never been much of a drinker, occasional parties, some margaritas/beer here an there, but lately Ive had strong cravings for a drink. We went to this Mexican restaurant, an this guys beer looked so so good and refreshing. I would never drink a drop of alcohol during pregnancy an never have, just because I'm a nervous nelly like that, but lately it's been a crave that I can't seem to kick. I really need to avoid places that serve Alcohol an not to mention hide my antique wines I have displayed in my Casa. Okay ladies please tell me I'm not the only preggo lady gawking at others drinks.

Some people are okay with drinking during pregnancy as long as it is within moderation and is an amount that they and their OB are comfortable with (I am one of those people). But since you aren't comfortable, I won't even suggest it.

Are you willing to try a non-alcoholic beer (even though they have a trace of alcohol in them)? If so, I'd recommend Clausthaler. I think that O'Douls and Sharp are disgusting, but Clausthaler is really good.

I also have a few pregnancy cocktail books some friends gave me. I can look to see if there are some good virgin margarita recipes. That might help to satisfy your craving.

You could try cooking and baking with it. All the flavor and none of the alcohol.

I have been desperately craving a cocktail! I don't normally drink a lot, but I make really good (and strong) homemade martinis, and I've been wanting a good martini so bad!

I do not completely avoid alcohol (I have a glass of red wine here and there), but I don't feel comfortable with the idea of drinking a cocktail. I've actually looked up charts re: how long it takes to get out of the blood stream for purposes of having one after the baby is here. I plan to EBF if possible, and apparently it takes roughly 2 hours for one drink to get out of your system. So if you feed the baby and then drink the cocktail right after.. it should totally be ok, right?!

I know I am already demonstrating what an excellent mother I'll be when one of my biggest concerns during pregnancy is how much longer I have to wait for a cocktail ;-)

Yep I am. But I was also a very social drinker before getting KU. I had a virgin margarita the other night. I take a sip of DH's beer every time we go out.

@tallmomma29 don't worry. My bil is on duty to bring me a freaking full strength margarita to have a sip of after I push this LO out.

I'm only glad I am mostly pregnant during the cooler months. I wouldn't make it all summer without a strawberita.

I've had drink cravings. Not so much the alcohol, but the taste. One day I was dying for a bloody Mary. That would be good without the alcohol. Another time I wanted an amaretto sour. I don't know how to make that one without the yummy amaretto taste, unless I buy some sort of flavor syrup (like those made for coffee).

A margarita sounds good, but I've always liked mine with equal parts tequila and mix. A virgin one doesn't sound appealing.

I've had some wine while pregnant before (not yet so far this time), but I wouldn't have any hard liquor other than maybe a sip of someone's drink.

It would be amazing if someone could bring a Cosmo to the hospital for me! And lets throw in a sushi roll or two while we're at it! ;-) I have a friend who knew she would not be BFing, and her sister totally brought cocktail glasses and ingredients to the hospital!

My friends and I have a thing that we always bring coronitas to the recovery room. They're the small coronas. We always have one in the room "for the baby". Nothing wrong with it... The baby has to get used to it around us at some point lol!

Yes! All of this cold weather has me not wanting to leave the house, and this is when DH and I usually stay in and drink instead of getting out. I don't really feel comfortable having a full drink, and I know half a glass, or even if I did decide to have a full one, would just make me want a 2nd even more. I miss our hang out, stay in and drink a bottle of wine together weekends.

The Fre Chardonnay alcohol-removed wine is pretty good. I didn't crave any alcohol while pg with DS, but it's been different this time around!
Also- have your glass of wine/beer/cocktail WHILE you're nursing baby if you're worried about it clearing your system in time. Might as well relax and enjoy a drink while LO does

I was JUST telling people at dinner how badly I want a dirty dirty DIRTY martini. I am a social drinker for sure, but not a heavy drinker or drinker at all unless I go out so I find this super strange. I want it soooo badly!! I plan to have sushi and my martini as soon as this kid is out! Is it July yet?

I'm missing wine too! Especially since we received a housewarming goodie basket that included a bottle of wine! Lately when we've gone out I've ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri...still so yummy!

I miss red wine!!! My husband and I went visited Tuscany two months before we got pregnant and bought a few cases. Now the wine bottles are taunting me, I might have to hide them. But I must admit I did have a sip the other night at dinner and it was glorious!

I've really been wanting some wine. I've been smelling DH's and that's helped. I will be drinking while nursing. I did with DD too. The rule I followed is safe to drive, safe to nurse. That for me meant a glass of wine whenever I wanted.

I'm doing ok now, but I know once it warms up I'll have a serious margarita craving! We have a Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville machine and love to use it in the summer. I'll have to make some virgin ones.

When I got to the hospital last time, they asked if I wanted some drugs before the epidural. I was told it was like "having 4 margaritas." I don't know what kind of margaritas those nurses drink because it didn't even feel like 1.

I've been craving margaritas for weeks now. 5 more months...

I haven't had strong alcohol cravings, but when I feel like it, I will have one glass of wine or champagne.

I have never had more than 1 drink per day. We have done lots of research and both feel very comfortable with this.

I was driving to work the other day and they were talking about different mixed whiskey drinks on the radio. I got lost in a day dream about sitting in front of the fire with my hubs and a glass of whisky...sigh. Seriously almost forgot I was preggo for a second I was planning on that drink so hard.

I miss wine and a good strong strong cocktail, like a sidecar or a nice bourbon cocktail. Or something with cucumber. Yeah, I like to drink. Not a drop since I found out I was preggo though.

I wanted to post something about this but I thought I'd look like a total lush! I don't remember having these cravings with DS. I even bought some O'douls and I found after a sip or two I don't even want the rest. The sad part is I'm not even really a beer drinker. Glad to know I'm not the only one craving cocktails!!
