Baby Names

Theo

Nickname for anything besides Theodore? I like Theo, not a huge fan of Theodore.

Re: Theo

  • We talked about using Theo as a stand alone name. I know some/most on here disagree, but I think it works.

  • I'm also not a big fan of Theodore, and I love Theo.  It is one of my top three boy names.

I would personally use Theo as a stand alone name - I'm generally a big supporter of "name the kid what you're going to call them."  Unless it is a childhood cutesy nickname sort of thing you think they'll grow out of as they age (example: nn Nellie for Eleanor, probably won't be used as an adult).

That said, we know two baby boys called Theo, and both their full names are Theodore.

    BFP #2 - Due Date 08/13/2014

  • I would just use Theo. I think it holds up just fine on it's own. I also like Leo as a stand-alone name.
  • I love Theo! It's adorable and I think it works as a stand alone name if you aren't a fan of Theodore.

  • I know a couple who named their son Theo, as a stand alone name. It fits perfectly.

  • I think it works as a stand alone. But there is also Theobald.

I was thinking the same exact thing, including the Leo part!
