Ugh registry

So as a FTM I really have no idea what is worth it and what is not. I also know some can depend on what the baby likes as well.

So Swings. Are the expensive 140 dollar ones that can rock side to side or front to back worth it or will your kid really know the difference from one of the cheaper ones that just rock front to back?

Re: Ugh registry

  • Your baby won't know the difference trust me! My mom gave us an older model basic swing from a consignment shop and my daughter loved it! It saved our sanity too...love the swing! We'll be using the same one for baby #2.

  • Another nice poster on here recommended Lucie's List! Google it! I was able to complete my registry beautifully with her list's help! :)
  • My kid ahead all swings. We are trying the FP Cradle and Swing with this LO.

  • we had one that swung side to side and front to back and my DD hated the swing. So on that note if you get the chance to try a swing out, like at a friends house before you buy one I would. My step daughter however preferred the swing over anything else and loved the side to side motion way better then front to back.

  • I got a swing for DS that you could take the seat part off and use it as a bouncy seat or toddler rocking chair. It wasn't expensive at all (came from Target), and it was great for space and cost efficiency.
  • Baby Bargains. Buy the book.

FWIW, with DS the Snugabunny swing was well used, but not a life saver.

  • It depends on the baby. Our son would sometimes be crying hysterically as the swing went one direction, and as soon as we switched it to the other direction he stopped crying. The swing in general was definitely our biggest lifesaver of all our baby stuff. But unfortunately you won't know if it's worth it until you have the baby and see what s/he likes.
