Cake for Angelversary? Ticker warning and rainbow mentioned

Our daughter's first angelversary isn't until March, but I'll be induced with our rainbow just a few days before, so I've been trying to tentatively plan what we'll do the celebrate and honor our angel. 

I know we'd like to get a cake made but I'm torn on the decorations.  I would just go buy a pre-made cake from the grocery store, but MH loves the ones from the bakery that made our wedding cake.  He asks for very little, so I'd like to go that route.  I'm just curious what other people did...make it obvious it is for an angelversary and have to field the potential awkwardness/questions, or just make it out like a first birthday cake, and again get awkward questions if we have to explain she isn't with us, especially since when I order it I may be very pregnant or have a newborn with me.  Bonus if you had a cake done and have a pic you can share.

    Im thinking the same thing...not sure what kind if cake...if i want to make it or buy it. When is your angels birthday? Congrats about getting close to your rainbow

    We did iced cookies instead of a cake, and just did them with a sweet theme. No need to put 1st birthday or anything on it unless you want to.

    My daughter's angelversary is on Thursday this week. We are having cupcakes with pink icing, nothing fancy or decorated.
    Married 8/2009, TTC since 4/2010
    ME: 30, DOR- Low amh, normal fsh/afc DH: 30, morphology issue
    IVF #1- BFN
    IVF #2- BFP!!! Beautiful baby girl became an angel on 2/6/13 at 17.5 weeks due to PPROM/IC
    IVF #3- New RE... February March 2014! 8r/6m/6f. Transferred one and have one frostie! BFP! EDD 12/7/14

    Me: 32 DH: 33  High School Sweethearts  Married 5/28/2005
    DS1 born 6/5/10 at 40 weeks via emergency c-section due to fetal distress and IUGR caused by placental insufficiency
    DS2 born still 8/28/13 at 32 weeks via emergency c-section due to a complete placental abruption - cause unknown
    Baby #3 on the way, EDD 2/29/16.  Originally twins, but we said goodbye to Baby B at 8 weeks.

    I want to donate blankets/books to the hospital every year in his name to families experiencing a still birth. I know there are a few local programs that do it. But I like the cake idea for us. It is sweet.

    I went back and forth on the cake issue with Ellie's first birthday, and thought I had decided against it because what would we do with a whole cake and how would I decorate it etc, etc.  Then on her actual birthday, I had an absolute freak-out because I didn't have a cake and I felt like such a terrible mother, so I baked cupcakes.  We put one aside for her and had a "1" candle that we lit with her memory candles and sang happy birthday.  Then we ate our cupcakes and talked about Eleanor with my DS1, who was very excited to sing happy birthday to his sister and eat cupcakes, so I think we did the right thing.

    I took Eleanor's cupcake and put it outside next to a little angel sculpture some friends got us for our garden.  I figured I'd let nature have the cupcake, as that was as close as I was going to get to being able to give it to her directly. It was pretty cathartic when it disappeared, even though logically I know it was one of our ridiculous squirrels.

    No matter what you and your family decide to do, it's the right decision for your daughter.  Choose to remember her and celebrate in whatever way seems the right way for you, even if that way changes 6 times the day of.

    I'd like to do this myself as his angelversary is the day before xmas eve.... I'm sure we're going to try and keep it simple for just DH and I.  I'd like to see a pic when you get yours :)

    I baked a cake.  
    But next year on his birthday, we want to do a cake.  I would just say its to celebrate your baby. I think most people are respectful and shouldn't pry.

    I like this idea, that way we can get the cake we want, and just decorate it ourselves to avoid the questions.
