Random blood in crib?

This morning there was tons of blood smeared on DD's crib sheet.  Most of the spots were light blood, but it was all over.  This is the second or third time this has happened.  I looked everywhere on DD and found no sign of any blood whatsoever.  My thought is, it has to be coming from her mouth then.  But nothing seems to bother her.

Happened to anyone else?

Re: Random blood in crib?

  • Just once. I chalked it up to teething, since I couldn't see any dried blood in his nose or any scratches.

  • What is tons? If she is cutting teeth, then I'd say saliva mixed with blood from her drool.
Tons of spots, but each spot was pretty light with blood.

  • We have had a bloody nose- saline amd humidifier fixed it.

  • This happened to us a few weeks ago, and it was from cutting teeth. You could definitely tell it was drool spots, and thinned with saliva.
  • This happened once with Finn. It was in several places on his sheets. Then another morning he had dried blood on his hands. I assume it coming from his nose because of the dry air and the heat being on constantly. If it happens consistently you may want to give her pedi a call.
  • My guess is teething or a bloody nose.

  • I agree on the teething.  Also could be from her nose.  DD is a nose picker and it bleeds a little sometimes.
  • If the color was lighter then it is most likely blood mixed with saliva which is from teeth. If it was straight blood I would assume either a cut or bloody nose. Hopefully nothing bad!

  • I agree with teething or potential bloody nose (darn dry air!) or cracked lips.  This actually happens to me--my lips get very dry in the winter and crack and bleed.  It's not a ton of blood, but I've left stains on the pillow before.

  • When this happened to us, we figured out it was from a small cut when we cut his nails. I don't know how we didn't notice it, but when we looked closely, there was the smallest scratch that had healed on his finger.
