Strollers!!!

I've been looking at strollers all day. No clear solutions yet. Does anyone know a stroller that meets all (most of?) these requirements: 1) Baby able to sit up at 90* and look out but stroller still reclines for napping 2) Air tires or similar that are able to give smooth ride on uneven pavement. My chicco cortina shakes/vibrates on parking lots/paved bike trails, etc and it drives me mad! Great inside stores though :/ This is probably my main focus. 3) Not excessively hot during the summer (if strollers even differ in this regard) 4) Preferably not a giant jogging stroller (small car-ford focus- and not planning to run with it) 5) Usable by 5'7" and 6'3" parents I have a 6 mo boy and am planning to use it at parks, long walks on paved greenways and day trips (zoo, aquarium, etc) so it should be comfortable enough for him to sit in all day. No budget but I'd prefer not to go over 500$

Re: Strollers!!!

  • Check out the Valco Snap & Valco Snap 4 (you can get air tires for that one). It's lightweight as well but is going to meet all your requirements. I have the double and love it...and even though it reclines all the way it sits up at a 90 as well. There are reviews on You Tube and you can check out the Valco Baby website as well.

  • The Baby Jogger Versa.  I just bought it and I love it.  Same footprint as the City Mini, but has 4 wheels, reversible seat that folds with the stroller in any direction, folds flat, adjustable handle, great sunshade, reclining seat, suspension wheels and it is $400

  • I agree with pp, the versa is great for your needs. As a plus you can get GT wheels if you feel you need air tires (I've had no issues with my normal tires, but we've only had snow as our 'terrain').

  • Valco Snap 4 with air tires or the Versa with GT wheels.  The Snap is a lot lighter but not reversible so it's a trade off. The Snap 4 also sits more upright than the Versa.

  • I third the BJ City Versa!!  We just got ours for baby #2, but we took it out for a spin at the Bronx Zoo with our 36 lb 3-year-old in it on Saturday and it was awesome!  I thought the wheels that come with it are fine for uneven pavement, but like a PP mentioned, you can now order the air-filled GT wheel kit for it.  You can get the 2013 models right now on Amazon for $289!!  The only difference with the 2014 is the logo, a change to the harness (but I think the 2013 harness is fine), and the elimination of the green color.

  • I have the Britax B Agile. Both my husband and I can use it comfortably, it has vents that open up for air flow, reclines for naps (although it doesnt sit completely upright). I am not sure if the wheels are air, I highly doubt it, but it handles rough terrain very well because the front wheel locks. It's also compact and gets very flat.

  • I have similar requirements and I'm torn between the BJ City Mini GT, BJ Versa and UB Cruz. The amount of hours I've agonized over this is insane!
  • @EmmaD312 did the same thing last year. Have you gone into the store & tried them out in person? It was after trying to lift the things that realized BJ City Mini GT or one of the lightweight Valcos would be best for me.

  • Can't wait to check all these out! It's stroller day!!! So excited!
  • Another vote for the UB Cruz here. It is so easy to use, as far as folding, adjusting etc. and as everyone mentioned, the giant storage basket below. It feels sturdy and of good quality as well as looking sleek, not frumpy mom.

I have the "regular" BJ city mini for my son and it seems to follow all of your guidelines.  Now that we're expecting #2, I wish I had just gotten the city select (which converts to a double).  We thought we were one and done, but you never know.   I test drove it at Buy Buy Baby this weekend and it was by far the smoothest double stroller to ride in for the price.  Also, they seem to be easy to sell on craigslist later.  Amazon sells them for significantly less IMO than in stores..
  • @bcnoelle I think most of the BJ line is on sale right now as they are clearing out for the next model year (at least for the online retailers; agree that in store, prices have not been discounted).

  • I got my 2012 City Versa at BBB for $218 a couple weeks ago!  It was the floor model.

  • I want to love all of the Baby Jogger strollers, but that cross bar between the back wheels is a deal breaker for me. I must have a long stride bc I constantly kicked it when using a friends.
