Babies: 3 - 6 Months

crib transition shots question

Alrighty I finally got the all clear from my drs ent to transition her to the crib. I am going to start this the weekend after next. id start it  this weekend but we have to travel out of town next weekend and I feel like it would be a setback to throw her off of her newly established crib routine. The only thing I am questioning is the weekend I am going to start transitioning to the crib is also the weekend she is scheduled for her 4 month shots. Bad idea? this is my first so Im not sure. Also any good transition tips would be welcome. I am trying to do this with as little tears as possible from both her and me. Side note.........she hates swaddles so anything involving that is a mute point. assistance appreciated

If it was me, I would personally hold off on making the transition until after the shots. My little guy was kind of crabby after the shots and I wouldnt want to throw him off his normal routine any more than normal at that time.

As far as tips, try doing it on a weekend. That way, if you/SO dont get much sleep during the transition, you dont have to go into work tired. White noise worked wonders for us.

    This exactly!  Ocean Waves!!!

  • Yep, wait till after the shots.  Also see below post about transitioning from RnP to crib.  Basically just do it gradually and don't be too hard on yourself or LO if it doesn' t happen right away. You both still need to get some sleep while you're making this transition.
  • We started the transition the day he turned 4 months which was a Saturday. Then I realized his shots would be 2 days later on Monday. I just told myself if he was fussy Monday night we could go back to the bassinet and try again but he did fine. I would probably not have the first time in the crib be the same day as shots though. Good luck on transitioning
