Doula - Worth the $$, Recommendations?

I am considering a doula.  It's definitely not in my budget, but the only support person I will have in the delivery room is my mother.  My concern is, she and I tend to get snappy with each other during stressful situations, and I feel like I would be more likely to listen to/be calmed by a relative stranger who is also my advocate.  How does everyone feel who has used a doula?  Worth the money?  Waste of money?  Do you think it changed the outcome of anything?  If so, Columbus recommendations?

  • I am a FTM, so I don't have a prior birth experience, but I am planning a home birth through CHOICE in Worthington and they have doulas and monitrices on staff as well as midwives. They are an amazing group of knowledgeable and kind women. If I were doing a hospital birth, I would absolutely hire a doula to be the calm in center of the storm, so to speak. They offer an initial consultation/interview, so you can meet with them and ask loads of questions with no strings attached. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 mos!

  • https://www.awaitingmiracles.com/   I would recommend her a million times! She is wonderful, a super sweet and caring person that will be an HUGE asset to you as you embark on this journey!! Her name is Ami!   I would say that it is worth the money to have someone by your side to support you thru this crazy stressful time! =]
