Not checking cervix?

No complaints I am totally ok with this, but has anyone else been able to get out of the checks simply bc you are scheduled for a c/s?

Re: Not checking cervix?

  • I'm having a repeat c section on the 26 and the doctor will not check me

  • My OB and nurses have asked me if I want to have it done or not each time. It's not mandatory even, and up to me, for an assumed vag style delivery.

  • There is no reason to be checked even if you are having a vaginal birth.  Some docs prefer too, but most let the patient opt out, as it really doesn't indicate anything.

  • I'm having a RCS on the 20th and my OB still checked yesterday. I'm hoping to only have one more check.

  • I was asked yesterday if I wanted to be checked and since it's not mandatory or routine I declined.
  • Mine will only check if you are having contractions. I am an RCS.

  • Yep. My doc hasn't even mentioned it!

  • Thanks ladies :)
I was checked EVERY time with DS starting at 34 weeks. Never had any problems with that pregnancy. Just thought that was normal. I was 19 and not pregnancy-smart. Now i reaize i didnt have to go through that crap lol
  • I declined all cervix checks until I was in labor with both babies, and my doctors were fine with it. I had vaginal deliveries.
BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks) BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy) BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy) BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12) BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)

  • I have declined them at each weekly appt. only having Braxton Hicks and no issues or symptoms so I see no need for them until I'm in labor. I hate when people ask too "how is your cervix? Dilated?" I happily tell them I see no need for routine checks.

  • I declined at 36 weeks but agreed at 37 just to see if there was any progress. Kinda tempted to skip 38 weeks and maybe be surprised at 39 even though it really doesn't mean much. I'm too impatient though to not know anything. Props to you ladies!
  • I was offered and declined! Baby is not coming out that way so if possible it matters even less then if I was delivering vaginally (not that it makes a difference then either). TBH I was kind of pissed they checked me when I wS in labor - the nurse said she wanted to see how much time they should give the doctor. Luckily I was already 5 cm so they brought him in quickly. But I would have been super pissed if I had only been 2 and they let him sleep or something. I was like its baby time, let's go!!

  • I never had checks my ob saw no need for it as he is inducing me anyways because of GD. I'll be checked once I go in to determine how they start my induction!!
