My DD is in a small daycare with children of different ages. I think she is the youngest at seven months old. Her daycare provider told us that she wants to take the kids to the circus next week. I don't think I want DD to go because I think she is too young to really enjoy it. If she does not go, I will stay home with her. WWYD?
A daycare we used (and loved!) took an annual trip to a museum when DS was just over a year old. I wasn't comfortable with it because they were taking the bus/subway into the city and I just didn't feel ok with it even though I trusted and loved them. What are the logistics?
As long as they were properly chaperoned for the trip, I'd have no problem with her going. We took A to her cousin's ballet recital in December. I don't think she enjoyed it.... she slept through it, but I think there's a lot we do that she is to young to enjoy, but I wouldn't lose a day of work over a DCP field trip.

@elmoali - They have a van. She would ride with the kids. DD would probably be on her in a carrier during the show if I don't go.
I don't mind bringing her places that she won't get anything out of if they are for my enjoyment (like church, etc.) but this would be for her so I'm wondering if it makes sense to go.

I guess I'm a little unclear what your hesitation is. If it's her safety, I get that. If it's because you think she won't get anything out of it, I guess I wonder why that matters so much that you'd keep her home. They don't get the same level of enjoyment out of most anything other people do at this age but experiences are still experiences and there's no harm in it even if she sleeps the whole time.
There is a zero percent chance Id let daycare take my daughter. Not because she wouldn't enjoy it, but because the logistics worry me too much. I'd consider going myself so I could go with the group and take care of LO. But I wouldn't let my DCP take her. I actually think that daycare driving a group of kids under their care is a huge liability!
Oh no, no, no, for me personally. My daycare doesn't start taking the LOs on field trips until they are about three, and I think that's an okay age, although I would still worry then. I am sure LO would enjoy the field trip, but right now he's too young to go somewhere like that without one-on-one attention, which they can't provide for every single kid. I like him to stay in the controlled environment at the daycare!
I agree that it depends on the logistics. I don't think she'll get anything out of it really, but I don't think it would be a big deal if it was a short trip and enough caregivers. Most likely I wouldn't feel comfortable with it because I can't see a way that I would trust another driver or adults to deal with commuter rail and the T here. It wouldn't be the trip itself that would bother me!

Let me tell you - I would worry far less about them taking a baby than a mobile pain in the...I mean, darling lol
We actually took DD to the circus last weekend. Now we went because of DS but she had a good time. She was standing in my lap and throwing her arms and jumping in excitement to the music and lights. She did sleep through most of the second half but she enjoyed it while she was awake. She was also free so if you are comfortable with the logistic side of things I don't see any reason to not send her.

Lol, that's probably true! Still, I prefer to wait.
I wouldn't have her participate for many reasons, one being I wouldn't want someone driving her anywhere and secondly I don't support circuses that use animals for entertainment.
