Teeth Brushing

Can we talk teeth brushing? Is anyone else having difficulty convincing their LOs to smile so that you can brush the front of their teeth? My DS puts up a fight. At this point I am still finger brushing and also letting him "brush" (I use that term loosely because he mainly sucks on the brush) with a big boy (Elmo) toothbrush. I want to know are there any tricks that work when it comes to brushing teeth? It is getting way to difficult to slip the finger brush under his tightly curled lip to get the front teeth and I def don't want him to have brownies :(

    Brentley used to fight me to no end to brush his teeth. I got him a toddler electric tooth brush and I've had no problems since.

    Avery fights me daily. I sit her on my lap and tuck one of her arms between my side and arm and hold her other hand down. She usually screams so at least her mouth is open. It sucks that she hates it, but it has to be done. Fortunately this phase won't last forever.

    Ava puts up a fight every single time so it usually takes 2 of us to do it. One holds her arms down while the other brushes. I started singing the ABC song a couple nights ago and she actually puts up way less of a fight when I do!

    We take turns. I let her go first then I announce it's my turn and brush as quickly as possible. Then let her have another turn (chewing) and then I announce we are done. Makes it a little less of a struggle.

    I have a hard time too. I try not to fight it too much because I want the experience to be positive. Dh does a better job at it. We usually mange to brush her teeth just once a day.
