Peg perego viaggio convertible car seat

Any reviews of this car seat? Any recommendations for a convertible which might fit well in a BMW X3? We currently use the chicco keyfit 30 which works well, but LO is outgrowing it.

Re: Peg perego viaggio convertible car seat

  • I also have it and love the look and feel. It was great rear facing. I just flipped both of mine around (I have 2, one in a Camry and one in Yukon) and even at full upright my son is still slightly reclined. When I look at my seat compared to others, others seem to be more upright.

  • have no knowledge on this particular seat, however there is a group on Facebook called Car Seats for the Littles. Car seat techs & parents on there with experience installing & using variety of seats. People can join, then ask advice (they usually like to know the child's age, weight or percntile, clothing size & approx budget. They also have a list of seats in one of their files that reccomends specific seats & states why (i.e. easy to install, fits taller children, etc.)

    Good luck!

  • I love love love the Peg convertible.  I am about get a second one. It's easy to use, the seat is comfy and big, the straps are easy to adjust and it's easy to install.  I tried a lot of different convertible and this one was my favorite easily.

  • I love ours too.  My 27 m old fits comfortably RF and still has lots of room to grow. The fabric is the best!  Durable, comfy and great for hot weather.

  • I was considering the peg, but ended up with the Nextfit.  I just bought it and haven't installed yet though.  I couldn't find the peg in person.  But the nextfit is supposed to be great for ERF tall babies.  and DS is 95th %

  • I have the Peg Perego Convertible in a Ford Escape and Mazda Speed.  They are narrower seats and so far, have worked great in our cars.  Our 17 month old is very comfortable in the seat in both cars.  He is still RF and average size.  I was told the only car that the Peg Peregos are really not a great fit for are Volvos because of how the car's backseats are designed.

  • Does the peg perego use a base similar to an infant seat? I was hoping to just get one convertible seat and an extra base for when we have to put it in our other car (which would be rare).
  • Almost no convertible seats work like that (with the base) and the few that do, are very expensive and not long lasting seats.  You are much better off with a convertible seat in each car that you use often. There are great convertible seats that start at $50 if you are on a tight budget.

For reference, I have the Peg in my car because we take it almost everywhere but we got a Guide 65 for $100 for my husband's because the kids rarely ride in there and I didn't see a reason to spend so much on a rarely used seat.
