Seasonique, Questions & More Questions

Hi, I am new to the bump, so I am not quite up with the lingo yet. I have several questions, so bare with me.

1. I am getting married in less than 2 months yay! Hubby to be will be 27 this year and really wants kids (multiple) before he is 30. We initially said we would wait 1 year after we were married to TTC, but we want the experience to be more spontaneous, and not planned out. We just want to put the time in God's hands and it be as spontaneous as our relationship. We are financially stable and all that jazz so no worries there. So we are considering ditching the birth control.

When did you and your husband let loose of the BC? Is there really a time restraint of how long your should be married before you have kids?

2. I have been on Seasonique for almost 10 years. I have read a lot of women have had a lot of issues of getting back normal after taking it. So that is another big reason for waiting to ditch the BC. On top of that, I had to swap name brands due to insurance and it has been making me really sick. Anyone here have experience with Seasonique?

So basically our "plan" is to chart and try to be careful for a few months after our wedding. But my biggest concern since I have not ovulated in 10 years and only had 4 periods a year for the past 10 years is how to I get started charting? I highly doubt I would get pregnant in the next two months, but how do I start charting so I can make sure we at least pull out (tmi) when I am fertile.

Highly doubt condoms will be used lol husband to be and I both hate them. So basically I just need some friendly guidance.

Reading back this post really sucks..I am sorry! So many exciting thoughts

Re: Seasonique, Questions & More Questions

  • Thank you for the quick responses! I will most definitely be hitting up the book store tomorrow.

SandAndsSea, that makes me feel much better. I finished my last pack and had my period. Then we read a lot of scary stuff and decided not to take it anymore.

I was on seasonale (this was the version of seasonique before that one came out--my doctor said the only difference was with the period-week pills, not the BC part so I'm assuming they're still the same as this was several years ago). Anyways, I was on that pill for over 5 years before we went off to TTC DD. I was KU in the fourth month. The one thing I will say about going off that pill was how amazing I felt when I went off. Apparently it was making me crazy and I hadn't even really realized. I'd also wait to go off the pill so you can be fully protected and plan your honeymoon accordingly :)
I was previously on Seasonique then they changed me to a generic version of Seasonale. I HATE IT! I am always exhausted and have been overly emotional in the past 6 months since changing to it.  How long until you became regular? I want to stop now just because I want to feel like me again. AND when I started my pills back after my period, I became so sick I ended up in the hospital (no idea if related, but still scary). I have friends who track and pull out to lower the risk of getting pregnant, and I believe we can handle that, but I just don't know when I will be normal enough to actually follow the app I have.
