How long did it take before you stopped looking pregnant?

I'm only 6 pp, but I know a lot of you have weeks on me. I can't remember how long it takes for your uterus to contract and not look pregnant anymore? Looking forward to my sons not asking me why my stomach is still big and if there is another baby in there!

  • The literature I got at the hospital said it can take the whole 6 weeks. It depends on your body and if you're breast feeding it could happen faster. I had my baby on 1/26 and was able to get into my pre preg jeans this week but I still have a small very soft tum and I look maybe 4 or 5 months preg but I am also pretty tall so I may have carried differently. Hope this helps and don't let them make you feel uncomfortable about it- you just did something awesome!

  • I'm wondering if I'll ever get it back. Attempted to put on pre pregnancy jeans and my hips seemed to have widened... My hip bones we're stopping me from fastening vs squishiness

    I feel like it takes a good month or two for it to go down/just turn in to chub.

  • I am 3 weeks PP. My belly is soft, but if I wear smoothing underwear, I just have a little pooch -- I look like I ate too many chicken fingers. I think every person is going to have a different response because every body, every pregnancy, etc. is different.

    My hips spread and I can't fit into my jeans yet, though.
  • Ummm, I still look 4 months pregnant. I also still have 10 pounds of pregnancy weight to lose. It will take quite a bit of core work and ab work to lose this pregnancy paunch.

  • I am 4 weeks PP. I don't look pregnant anymore, just chubby. My stomach has a small flabby pooch and my arms and legs are jiggly.

  • I was 18 days PP when I fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes. Im EBF, so it really helped a lot. I do have a little pooch, but it looks like I just ate...

  • Thanks all! I'm talking more the swollen uterus. Believe me, after my first two kids I am we'll aware that the pooch is there for the long haul! :)

  • @slmille4 I almost got my body shape back, but if you look under my shirt.. the skin on my stomach is damaged by the shit load of stretchy marks and my linea nigra is so thick and black that from afar it looks like I have a happy trail....

    Aside from that I just finished nursing :) how's your sleep?

  • Yesterday at my 6-week follow up my OB said it takes at least 9 weeks for your uterus to completely return to its original size within your pelvic region.

    @redsaffron I'm the same. Stretch marks are fading a little. Makes me hopeful for swimsuit weather.
    Sleep is going better :) I would say we're both not up super late anymore but I think my 3 am was your like 5 pm lol.

  • For me, it took around a week for the swelling to go down. I am not anywhere near my pre-pregnancy weight, still have a nice layer of extra chub around my mid section, and nowhere near fitting into my regular pants yet...but I do not look 6 plus months pregnant if that is what you mean :)

  • I'm 3 weeks pp, and other than a softer middle, I don't look pregnant anymore. I'm EBF which I believe really helped, and at my 2 week pp appointment, I was only 5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight.

  • I'm 1.5 weeks pp and my belly is still squishy and looks misshapen, but I can wear my pre pregnancy jeans. Hips got a little bit wider again.
  • My stomach went down a lot, but at 4 weeks PP I still have a muffin top and my hips are wider. In addition, my arms and legs are bigger. I'm oy 5ft tall, so 5 extra lbs prohibits me from fitting in my prepregnancy clothes. I probably have a good 15 lbs to lose still and I gained 35 lbs while pregnant due to too many poptarts and pasta!

  • It took around a week to not look pregnant anymore, but another three weeks to fit int most of my jeans. My hips and thighs were really thick for a while. I still have some additional pudge to lose.

  • I think about 1.5-2 weeks. After 4 days I cod get in pre preg jeans. I have a squishy muffin tops. Hoping with in 6-9 months to get rid (ha ha yea right, better word reduce) it

  • I'm three months PP and I still can't fit my old jeans. My hips are just too wide now. But it took a good two months for my uterus to shrink back down, now I'm just a little pudgy

  • 8 days PP...had my 1 week checkup yesterday and down 20 lbs! But there's no way I'll fit in my prepreg jeans for a while yet. I'm not one of the lucky ones that gains preg weight just in the belly...my thighs and butt always seem to love expanding as well! So between that and my squishy belly it will be a while...sigh. I am EBFing and while that always seems to help me lose a chunk of weight initially, my body tends to hang on to about 10 extra lbs until we get close to weaning. Ugh :( I gained about 35 lbs this pregnancy so I'll prob lose about 5 more and then get stuck at that weight for a while... :-/

    I wore a compression wrap around my belly which I think really helped me to shrink back down avd I didn't look pregnant the week after...but now 4 weeks pp I still have at least 20 lbs to lose. I'm not one of the lucky ones who just loses it by EBF. To most people I probably look like I lost all my weight, but I can't fit into anything but leggings. I'm hoping to lose at least 10 more before going back to work and then hoping the rest comes off then.

  • 2 weeks pp tomorrow and I look like I ate just a little too much at a buffet they had me super wrapped up at the hospital though after my c section so I think that helped a ton!
  • I was normal by about 6 days PP, but this is the first time its been this way. The ither two times it took weeks/months. I am also 10 pounds below pre pregnancy weight so that makes a difference maybe.

  • 6 weeks pp and have lost about 12 of the 37 pounds I gained and look like I did when I was four months. I'm breastfeeding but not exclusively due to supply issues. Not sure if that makes a difference though. I'm looking forward to nicer weather and walking as well as getting past this growth spurt so I can maybe squeeze in a short workout at home in between feedings.

  • @LadyFilet I didn't mention I wore I compressed hip belt for a few days, it did help bring my hips in. But I'm *squinty* eyeing you for losing 20 lbs in a week lol.

  • I don't look pregnant anymore (12 days out) but I dare not try on my pre pregnancy clothes. I have 10lb left to lose, which isn't a ton, but I know it is all "me" weight... Especially in the thighs. I have some in between clothes from my first baby that I need to find. Tops are probably ok but jeans from my skinnier days would just be depressing.

  • Don't hate me, I'm a month pp but I was able to get him to my pre-pregnancy clothing at the hospital. My stomach is a little soft and squishy but other than that I don't look like I just had a baby at all.

  • I'm 8 weeks pp tomorrow. I still look slightly pregnant and have this horrible flabby belly pooch. I can "fit" into my largest prepreg pants and even buttoned them them today by sucking in! But I have a sad muffin top. As far as when I can actually wear them.... I have been working harder and harder to lose my pregnancy weight for the past month and hopefully it pays off!!
  • 3 weeks PP now and I've already lost half of the weight I gained (30lbs which was all water weight) and can use my Bella band on my prepregnancy fat pants. By about 2 weeks I didn't look pregnant.... Just fat and squishy with even bigger hips.

  • 1 month pp: I'm only about 5-8 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but my pre-preg jeans are nowhere near fitting. I think it's all because of my hips. I honestly think I have gained a few inches just because of wider hips. But I definitely have some belly chub that is just hanging around and probably will be unit I am able to get back outside
