Dental Hygiene- A rave and rant!

Pre apologizing if my facts are wrong etc etc.. No sleep and need to get stuff off my chest!

Rave---
So im sure im not alone when I say Ive got pretty bad bleeding gums. I know thats a normal part of being preggers and all. I went to the store last week and bought "In my opinion" the best tooth brush ever! Its a sensodyne https://us.sensodyne.com/products/precision-toothbrush.aspx It feels like you are brushing with a babies hair brush but gets your teeth just as clean as the semi more rough tooth brushes out there. Its a pretty small brush almost child size but oh how I love it! Ive always had sensitive gums since I can remember.. Ive used crest soft brushes but its so much better then them!

Rant---!!!!
I may be over reacting but let me know if you think this was rude too..

The other morning I heard my mom come over (i live at the inlaws). I was in bed.. all ratty and tangled.. hadn't brushed my teeth yet etc etc.. I run upstairs to say Hi and chit chat with her and my MIL. I was in the kitchen, standing pretty close to my MIL.. im sure my breath wasnt pretty. MIL says " well im gonna pick you up some mouth wash later its really good" Okay okay point taken.. im stinky I thought in my head.(this didnt offend me since i just woke up so w/e) She goes on to say she saw on the news how babies are being born preterm from mothers who have bad hygiene ( i brush twice a day, im all good! ) Im like well "ive been brushing, im fine.. I also got a new tooth brush, i still bleed when i brush but its not that bad." My MIL takes a deep breath/small gasp and says " well! thats a sign you will have a preterm labor!" I was stilll tired at the time and just brushed off her comment .. but later that day and yesterday its all thats been irking me like crazy.. How can you say that to someone? I understand what bacteria can do, but ive been doing everything correctly.. how can you predict what will happen just because I have one side effect.. sheesh!

Anyways rant over.. but I just dont see why people assume as much.. She has had 5 kids she should know to be a bit more sensitive. Its my first and im already paranoid I dont need family members saying im gonna go into preterm labor.. I feel like im over reacting but comeeeee on lady... I love my MIL, ive always gotten along with her but with this pregnancy she seems to be trying to scare me or something. The other week she said "Well you are having a csection cause your baby was breech at 20 week scan" Uhh... she has time to turn around still!

Ugh that is all!

    That would annoy me, but then again so much about living with my in-laws just wouldn't settle right with me, I would just brush it off. I'm in the dental field and have never heard of pre-term labor related to dental hygiene. Are you planning on living with your in-laws once the baby arrives ? If so, I can foresee a lot of your MIL's remarks/opinions rubbing the wrong way in the near future.

    We are hoping to get out of here asap. DH has a bunch of interviews lined up and applications etc.. Once that happens we are leaving. Its hard because ive always had a friendship with her till lately.. she always has done so much for me and DH. But she does as of late have the "know it all" thing going on. She got snippy at us when we told her she cant use her 5 yearold carseat for LO when she is born, that we would provide one if she is babysitting. She sniffed up and said "pffft ive raised 5 boys i THINK i know what im doing!"

    its crazy o.o

    Ya I dont want to fight with her over that comment she made. I want a good civil relationship with her. I guess thats why I came on here to vent.. My anxiety gets going when it gets a thought in my head.. if I dont release it and talk about it ill go crazy.. so thankfully I have this forum =P

    no good - sorry your MIL is insensitive. BTW: that toothbrush is awesome! i've been using it for about a year new since I had gum reconstruction, and it's definitely worth every cent!

    also, i'm ready for my cupcake now. :-)

    Know it all MILs are so annoying. That being said it is true that gum disease increases the risk of preterm labor (https://americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/swollengums.html). my dental hygienist told me at the beginning of the pregnancy to schedule an extra cleaning if I noticed my gums started swelling or bleeding.
