How's everyones night going?
Things are shitty here. It's been an awful day. LO had a cough and is stuffy so I brought her to the pedi just to make sure it's just a cold. The doc said it's a head/chest cold. He said it's not bad enough yet to need meds but if it gets worse then he will prescribe an inhaler.
The shitty part of that was my appointment was at 4:10, it was almost 5 before they called me back, and it was 530 before the doc came in. LO missed her afternoon and it cut into her feeding time. She was having a huge meltdown, and i almost left. I started nursing and about 2 minutes later he walked in. Then at 630 I had a breastfeeding get together that I needed to go to so I could get some help, and while we were there, not only did LO have another meltdown, but I started feeling sick. When I got home I had a temp of 102 and felt like shit. I put LO to bed early and got myself in bed but I haven't been able to sleep because this damn fever won't break. It's almost 3 and LO is due up any time now. I'm tempted to have DH give get a bottle, but I feel like nursing her would benefit us both.
My mom is coming over tomorrow to help me so I can hopefully sleep better.
QOTN: what is the one thing you do everyone you are sick to comfort you?
I eat my mom's chicken noodle soup. I swear there is magic powers in it.
Re: night crew check in
My answer to the QOTN stinks! I don't have one.... I have absolutely no clue what I do when I get sick besides take meds and try to get as much sleep as possible.
LO actually fell asleep on her own for the second night in a row. We did her bedtime routine, I laid her in her crib after nursing her and then went to brush my teeth since she was calm and just talking to herself (if she gets upset when I lay her down, I shush-pat or pick her up if that doesn't work). I watched her on our video monitor, and she flailed around to get comfy and then drifted off. I couldn't believe it! She got up at 3:15, so I'm feeding her and hoping she goes back down quickly.
QOTN: it depends on what kind of sickness I have. Sick to my stomach = saltines & ginger ale. Congestion/cold = CVS brand gel caps (they are amazing) and lots of sleep!
QOTN: I have lots of tricks since I've been without health insurance so many times. #1 is ice cream though. Learned from DH that it always helps
Last night was another craptastic night.. LO just hates sleep and I'm too exhausted to elaborate.
Normally hot tea helps me .. I might actually need one today...
(Tmi allert) I think I threw my back out DTD last night. Which, btw, has happened 5 times this week.
No need for applause...
I hope everyone a and their LOs start feeling better soon.
When I am sick to my stomach I always have to eat saltines. It's the only thing I can usually keep down and I try for lots of water.
