I don't think I have seen this yet. So ladies how did you deliver.

If it was your first section whether it was emergency or scheduled just put c section. I thought about getting specific... but didn't.

BFP #1 (7/13/12) MC (8/14) 9 weeks. D & C 8/17.
BFP #2 (5/18/13) due 1/26/14. Grow baby grow!
Its a surprise! Team green!

Re: how did you deliver?

  • C/s due to LO nice and snuggled into the corner of my pelvis.

My 3rd c/s. First was after a failed induction. The next 2 were scheduled.

@Esd, I have a feeling this will be me. Now that I have recovered well from a c/s and a failed induction that made me want to die, I just can't see myself having a VBAC. Especially since I don't have good luck when it comes to pregnancy, obviously.

  • 2nd vaginal delivery after induction for me

  • Was supposed to be vaginal, ended up being a c-section because the cord got twisted and LO's heart rate kept dropping.

But while we're talking about delivery, I have a question for those of you who got an epidural. How did you react to it? Because at first I thought it was the best thing ever, but when they told me I was having a section I suddenly realized I couldn't feel/move my legs and I FREAKED. Crying, telling DH "I can't do this" and begging him and a nurse to help me prop and move my legs.

I'm sure part was stress over the surgery, but also I just panicked. Did anyone else have a bad reaction?

  • I had an emergency c-section. Not really the way I wanted to go, but it had to be done. I guess it will be a scheduled one next time.

  • Technically, I had a failed VBAC and somewhat of an emergency C/S. I started having intense contractions on a Friday, however they never came closer than 5 minutes apart. From Friday morning until Tuesday afternoon of my C/S my contractions were coming anywhere from every 5 - 30 minutes.

I was admitted into the hospital Monday afternoon and monitored because of pain in my previous C/S scar. As I was being monitored my contractions became longer, DS's HR dropped dramatically down into the 50's and 60's BPM. After several of these drops, we made the call to have the C/S. Although I was not placed under general anesthetic, I still was rushed into surgery as quickly as possible.

  • @casholmes, I had a blood pressure drop with my epidural. Felt like I was going to pass out. It was not pleasant but had none of the leg numbness or anything like that.

@peanutmuse, my best friend had an emergency c/s with her first due to lack of progression and fetal distress.  The same thing happened with her second. She then had scheduled c/s with her third and fourth as well as with her twins this past July (yeah she's one of those where her husband just looks at her and she gets pregnant. They also are very catholic and don't believe in birth control other than NFP and have trouble counting as they say). She said that knowing when her sections were going to be made it easier especially with having older kids who needed care while she was in the hospital.

  • Vaginal. It's interesting how the poll worked out because it is right on par with the national average of c section births.

FTM and had a c section because Landon was breech. At least my OB could take her time since it wasn't emergent and she said she was able to ensure that I could have a VBAC next time if I wanted. During surgery, she said that the umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck, preventing him from flipping. Thank heavens we didn't force a version!!! Also, she said his head was so large that she wasn't sure if I could have had him vaginally even if he had flipped and was free to move. I think all of this helped me make peace with the c section and not wish I had gone vaginally. My first concern was always Landon's health and I feel like we did the best we could for him.

  • VBAC, it was awesome.  DS1 was a c/s due to breech, so I didn't get to labour with him.  This time I had 39 hours of labour with induction but it was so worth it.

  • Another vaginal delivery here. I didn't have an epi [that was NOT by choice], but I did have one with my previous two. I was numb from the waist down with both, but the epi with my second delivery [which was our angel baby] was much stronger. My right leg was numb for 4-5 hour after they removed the epi. My epi with the first wore off in less than an hour.

  • FTM and now forever C/S'er. I was unfortunate enough to witness a uterine rupture as a student. That plus my anxiety = no way I could attempt a VBAC even though a big part of me really wants to.

  • Vaginal and it was a hospital water birth. It was my 2nd water birth and I wish I had the opportunity with all my other kids, because both of my water births were different yet amazing experiences :)

  • Another vaginal delivery, same as my first. Although this labor was a bit more intense than my last labor, and my last labor was no picnic!

  • I had planned another med free birth and was told he would come faster than DD, but didn't plan for what happened. I delivered DS in the passenger seat of my car on the way to the hospital. Whirlwind!

  • Vaginal, but I gave birth in the OR because they were preparing for an emergency c-section. DS had one too many decels during my labor and they gave him that last chance to come back up. It was really rough and scary.

  • Vaginal.
Wasn't empowering, still haunts me to think I squeezed out a nine pounder.

  • Vaginal after induction. Had an epi but still had a lot of pain because I could still feel the intense pressure in my butt from baby's big ole head, and it hurt like a mofo! Pushed for just under an hour, so it wasn't too bad. :)

  • Vag. Water birth. I hope I can deliver all my kids that way,but I also hope I am in active labor before my water breaks because having it break first and having to sit in the hospital a full day before anything happened was bad for an impatient person like me.

Emergency C section. After a long, crappy, unsuccessful (and mostly unmedicated) induction. Like many of you, I just don't see the appeal of a VBAC at this point. :(
  • Vaginal twin delivery sans epidural and baby B breech. I will definitely get the epidural if I have more kids!!

@irwinkle, did you seriously give birth in the car?? Wow that's crazy! Hope everything went ok!
@Xan84 I seriously did. We were 5 minutes from the hospital. It was scary but everything came out great. He is still congested from not having the amniotic fluid sucked out at birth, but that's it. Oh and my seat is stained. Going to try to have it cleaned again..

  • Induction with epidural two hours after starting pitocin. Vaginal delivery with two hours of intense pushing and a vaccum. Not looking forward to next time. I carried very small and no one believed me when I would say I was due next week, but she came out
8 lbs 10 oz. I was very surprised I only had a small 2nd tear and high sulcus tear which they topped my epidural for the repair.
  • 2nd VBAC :)

  • C/s under general anesthesia. It still bothers me that I missed the delivery and I feel like I let DH down because he was looking forward to it so much. He says I didn't, but the other day he said that he wishes he could have heard him cry for the first time. I didn't know if I wanted to cry or punch him in the dick for being so insensitive.

Sorry that turned into a vent!
