I fell asleep at work today..

Not my finest moment. You may remember my vent about pregnancy insomnia.. Well, that hasn't improved. Anyway, I'm a hair stylist and today while I was sitting in the break room waiting for a client to arrive I FUCKING FELL ASLEEP. I put my head down because I was feeling a little nauseous and the next thing I know it's like 40 minutes later. I wake up to a room full of my coworkers and I have lines all overly face and makeup everywhere. Also, I'm beginning to look like I ate a member of my family.. Maybe one of our pugs, I don't know. Hope that gave you a little chuckle if any of you lovely ladies are still awake.

Re: I fell asleep at work today..

  • High five! I wish I could get away with that, but I sit directly infront of the CEO so it probably wouldn't go down too well.

  • Ha! I'm glad your coworkers were so helpful.

I feel like I could absolutely fall asleep at work if not for 7th graders being so loud. Though I do spend more time sitting down now and frequently "space out" until one of the kids is waving at me going, "Miss. Miss? MISS?"
  • LOL, yes @Kimbus22 that does make me feel better.

@awc1986 Luckily my boss wasn't there, but if she had been I don't think she would mind because we get paid on commission. So it's not like an hourly employee was asleep on the job. I only get paid for the clients I do. We have a spa too and I wish I could go lay on one of the beds back there, but I DEFINITELY think that would have made her mad.

@mrt All they had to say was "Tired, mama?" when I woke up.

If this is happening @ 25 weeks, what's going to happen at 35?? I fall asleep standing up while doing someone's hair?!?!
  • I also fall asleep at work. Ill be looking down, reading a file and next thing ya know I'm out.
  • I fell asleep almost daily first tri...and I stopped trying not to after a while.  I'd just angle my chair the right way and keep my hand on the mouse so my computer didn't fall asleep and no one was any the wiser. :)

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • This is my favorite post of the day. Hilarious!

For real though, sorry this happened. I hope your nap helped you feel better :)

  • OMG the tiredness is certainly creeping back in for me too as I approach the third trimester... I had a few miraculous weeks and I'm slowly sliding down this slope. I wish pregnancy warranted part time disability or something! The lack if energy is unbearable.
  • Did any of you have that alleged burst of energy we were all promised during 2nd tri?? I have had no such thing. The Bump lied to me!!!!!!!!!
  • I think I am more tired in my 2nd tri than I was in my 1st tri. All I want to do is SLEEP! I think it should be mandatory that on top of our scheduled breaks and lunch break at work that they schedule in a 1-2 hour nap for pregnant women.
  • @mary97 that is awesome you could feel her kick from the outside.  My husband was able to feel our LO kick last night for the first time and the look on his face was priceless!  Such a great feeling.  I 2nd the nap time for pregnant women at work!  I work in HR and I was just voicing that opinion yesterday.  We have an empty office next to me and I suggested making it the Nap Room for pregnant women that are in need of this Reasonable Accommodation.  The fact that I want to use this Nap Room had no bearing on this suggestion - lol!

  • I can't tell if I am feeling kicks from the outside yet. H says he can't but sometimes when I lay here with my hand on my belly I think I feel it. But then I wonder if maybe I am just thinking that because I can feel it from the inside and it's psychosomatic. Who knows.

Nope. 2nd tri came and went and forgot to drop off any energy for me :(

  • At the beginning of 2nd tri, I put my head down on the counter at work only to have my district manager walk in. My staff tried to cover for me saying I wasn't feeling well.
