NBR: What to bring a family in the hospital?

Sorry my title is pretty vague - one of the little girls in DS' class at daycare was just diagnosed with brain cancer. She is having surgery today and they are removing masses from her brain. DS' teachers are going to visit her on Saturday and said they would be happy to take anything to them that we brought in. I want to do something, but I have no idea what to do. Do you guys have any suggestions?

    How awful. :( The only thing I can think of is maybe some coloring books/crayons, stickers, or other activities that she can do if she is stuck in a hospital bed. Poor thing, praying for her and her family.

    I'd agree with the food/coffee gift cards.  Flowers and gifts are nice, but you don't always want to deal with those things while your in the hospital.

    Gift cards, snacks (for the parents - the little girl might not be eating or might not be allowed to yet) and activities to pass the time. Put it all in a tote that is easy for them to carry.

    :( Poor kiddo! I agree with the above ideas of gift cards for food nearby for the parents, and games/ coloring books/ magazines to help pass the time.

    Thank you ladies for the ideas. I got a couple gift cards for some fast food places, as well as a coloring book/crayons and a cute Valentine's Day book for her, and a card. I wish I could do more.

    Check with the Parenting board...one of the moms there had a little girl just DX with leukemia and they were in a hospital an hour+ away from their home for over 2 weeks.  There are a few threads back on page 3/4 where they sent stuff to her, that may give you an idea of what the family could use!

    If you know something she is really into you could get her a stick on decal for her hosptial window.  A friend of mines little girl was in the hospital and we decorated her window with a bunch of stick on butterfies to brighten the room.
