Work pumping frustration!

I work out in the open, so to pump I have to go in a separate office (right in between my two bosses offices!) then to store my milk and clean my pump I have to go to the break room where all the men are eatting lunch! I know I, and they, will all get used to it, but not is hard to try to be discrete about it. I guess I should just be glad I am able to pump at work at all.

  • Today's my first day back and I have to say pumping at work is a little strange to me too but I work with all women except for two(on the preschool side of the building) and I guess that helps me to feel a little better.
  • I totally understand that you want to be discreet.  Eventually you will get use to it, but here are a few tips that I have acquired.  I keep my milk in a soft cooler with ice packs, and I also keep my pumping supplies in a ziplock in the soft cooler so I don't have to wash them every time.  I do this because I don't have much time, and it saves a ton of time.
  • I do understand what you mean.  I'm a teacher and I have to pump in the bathroom in the nurses office.  I sit on a folding chair and read all the signs on the wall.  Not a blast but at the same time its a nice hiding spot from the kids! I just use the wipes to clean because I don't have much time to pump and then I store the milk in a soft cooler with an ice pack.
  • What kind of wipes do you use?
  • I have to pump in my car. Pretty sure passersby see more of my boobs than my husband has. When I worked in a building I just put flanges/etc in a large ziplock bag and put that in a soft sided cooler in the fridge or in my office with ice packs. You'll care less as time goes on. Keep up the good work!

You know they are suppose to provide you a place that is not a bathroom.
