Did you get Braxton Hicks with your prior pregnancies? If so, you know what they feel like right? That gradual tightening around the midsection, your tummy getting hard as a rock or balling up for a minute then relaxing….sometimes getting a little uncomfortable maybe making you not want to move or breathe or slowing down your roll for a minute??? Not really a “pain” but just extreme pressure...well imagine doing that every time you get up or try to move around and that is what I am going through. Only if I sit or lay for a while – can I get it to stop. I dread just getting up to go potty cause I know my uterus is gonna clamp down! I had these a lot leading up to my preterm labor with my 1st DS.
Ok, the kicker….I am only 11 weeks 2 days (we think)!!!!! Yes – I called the doc (there are actually 3 docs in the practice I go to) the one that responded said no biggie – can be normal as early as 10 weeks – long story short – ended up at ER that night because of the intensity and frequency of them– ER doc said severe bladder infection – bladder spasming – probably irritating the uterus causing the “contracting”….followed up as directed with OB in the morning (partner to the doc that said this was normal)…and he said that there was NO WAY I was having any kind of contracting – that it wasn’t possible at this point (like I don’t know what a BH contraction feels like). OK…confused now since the docs contradicted themselves. Now, I’ve been on a powerful antibiotic 2 days now – urine all cleared up and STILL having these very uncomfortable BH contractions. I guess I’ll address this with the Peri at our first visit next week. But what do you girls make of this???? I am just interested in some perspective from some other BTDT moms J but please no rudeness or ugly comments - just need some good feedback. Be blessed girls!
Re: Your thoughts please BTDT moms???
This time they started at 16 weeks, had some cramping before that but not as consistently. I'm on 17P injections (Makena)- which you should ask about if you have a h/o PTL. At 25 weeks I had 2 hours of contractions every 2-3mins with pelvic pressure, I was hospitalized for 3 days and got steroids for baby's lung development. Cervix was long and FFN was negative, but I demanded a different plan this time. I'm on home modified bedrest and taking Nifedipine which slows them down and makes them less intense. I get cervical check by u/s every 2 weeks. So far, so good, I'm still contracting but I'm also still pregnant.
I think you should definitely talk about a plan with the perinatologist. Do you know how long your cervix is now? Unfortunately they are somewhat less aggressive before viability (which sucks) but you should also ask about starting Makena at 16-17 weeks. That slowed mine down some for a while. This totally sucks, sorry you're going through it also!
