3rd Trimester

When should baby flip?

30 weeks and just wondering when babies should flip to the downward position? My little girl is alllll up under my ribs right now lol

Re: When should baby flip?

  • Some time between weeks 32 and 36, most babies will turn themselves into a head down position to prepare for delivery. However, approximately three to four percent of full-terrm babies will remain in breech position. (Source: https://www.womenandinfants.org/havingababy/pregnancyplanner/third-trimester.cfm )

  • Anytime really. DS was head down at 31 weeks and breach till delivery. This one that I know of has been head down since my last apt at 32 weeks but my doctor said he was still floating a little. Which makes me believe they can still do some flipping for weeks. Just by reading people's post some baby's don't go head down until the week of.

  • Some babies do flip late.  Are you sure that's a head in your ribs you are feeling and not a bum/feet?

  • Baby could flip at any time. And it could have it's head down at one point and then flip again. My baby's head has been down since week 35 but it's feet were in my ribs. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and around 36-37 my belly dropped lower giving my ribs a break.
  • I'm still breeched. Hope she turns soon.

  • Flipping & dropping are two separate events by the way.
