If you had a choice similar to mine, which hospital would you deliver?

My gyn just told me i'm 7 weeks along. I'm excited as a first timer. I live in the Addison area and work in Downtown dallas, I have been going to my Gyno at Medical Forest Park at 75/Forest because its half way between work and home. I'm in search for an Ob, a private medical hospital/facility to deliver, and also a pediatrician. Since I'm dead center of the metroplex living in Addison, I am willing to look at various hospitals/facilities. I prefer my own private room and a quiet place/dont a popular noisy hospital i get clausterphobic. If you had a choice to deliver at your dream hospital, which facility would you pick? which OB female doctor would you pick? please also tell me why would you choose one facility over another? Thank you for your help, I am completely OVERWHELMED! Here are hospitals I can think of: -Baylor Carrolton -Baylor Frisco -Baylor Plano -Medical City -UT Southwestern -Medical Center of Plano -etc

  • Any reason you're not considering birth centers?
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • My ideal place to deliver would be Baylor Plano, but I do not think they do deliveries. My OB is in the Baylor system and has surgical privileges at BP, but I looked at their website, and it doesn't mention a maternity wing. I could be wrong though.

I really love the Baylor system, so it's got my vote.

  • Big Baylor in Dallas is great. My OB is there. But my friend is an L&D nurse at medical center on 75. She has great things to say about it.
  • I am Baylor frisco...the rooms are nice and it almost feels like a hotel.( in a good way) I have also heard really good things from people who delivered there.
  • I love Baylor Frisco, had as good experience there. However, I think it might be kind of far for you!

  • I delivered at Baylor Frisco and had such a wonderful experience. The rooms were large and the staff were very accommodating. My OB was Dr. Suzette Boyd who is located in the same building. I highly recommend her!
  • I'm delivering Baylor Frisco and loooove it.
  • Im delivering at Baylor Frisco as well. The staff is amazing and the rooms are really nice.
  • I'm due in May- maybe we'll see each other. ;)
  • I delivered at Presby Dallas (75 and Walnut Hill) with both kids and loved it. They went through a huge renovation from 2009 when my daughter was born to last year when we had my son. Huge rooms, nice amenities, high level NICU (should you need that) and the staff was AMAZING. My OB/GYN is in the same building, in fact her office is on the 3rd floor, L&D is on the 1st and post-natal is on 5th, so she's always five minutes away.

It's crazy to say, but I miss going there for all of my pre-natal appointments, and the L&D stay. It really was great. Good luck either way!

  • I am going to be at Presbyterian Dallas. My ob/gyn is there but beyond that they have one of the best facilities in the state (especially the NICU which hopefully won't be in the future but is good to know about). I have had experiences at the hospital before and my sister delivered there and loved it.
  • I delivered at Dallas Medical City off 75/forest lane. The nurses up in maternity ward are so AWESOME!! And the food is so good!! =)

  • Another vote for Dallas presby! I just had my baby there in December and EVERY SINGLE PERSON I dealt with was super nice! My obgyn is also in the building, so it was nice to know he was only a few floors up while I was delivering and could be there as soon as he was needed. The rooms were also huge and were recently updated. I had the standard PP recovery suite, but they have two room upgrade options which included seating areas, microwave/fridge and I think one even had plush robes and vouchers for a massage!

As far as an obgyn rec, I do have a male doctor but their practice has several women as well - Health Central Women's Care. They are on the 2nd floor at the hospital. As one poster stated above, I also miss going to my prenatal appts and interacting with all of the wonderful staff at Presby!
  • I had a WONDERFUL experience at Baylor Frisco!

That being said I know that Medical Center of Plano has recently updated their suites and they are beautiful!!
  • My best fried delivered their and  loved the experience. The L and D rooms are beautiful and very updated. MY RE is there as well, his office is on the third floor of the professional building and so everything is very close.

  • I like Baylor Frisco, but they are usually short on beds in their L&D. Medical Center of Plano is also pretty good and they do cord blood donation there, so that's definitely a perk if you're not banking privately.
