Birth Story + PIP

I figured I would finally post my baby's birth story since I have a quiet moment (for now!).

I had gone to work on the 28th and just kind of felt exhausted all day. My lower back ached, but nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. I decided I didn't feel up to cooking dinner, so my SO picked up some takeout. Not even 10 minutes into eating (around 7:30pm), I felt a weird popping sensation like the baby slammed her head down into my pelvis and bounced off something. A few minutes later, I felt a trickle of fluid and ran to the bathroom. More fluid came out so I figured it was my water. I called my midwives emergency line to see what I should do. She told me to kind of wait it out and see what happened, but to call her back in a few hours and update her. We talked again around 11 and I told her nothing was going on. She told me to try to rest and we would talk again around 4am and I'd have to come in then if there was still no progress.

Contractions started around 11:30 and I couldn't stand it by 1am. I called my midwife back and she told me to come in. When I got to the hospital, I was about 3cm dilated and labor seemed to be progressing. They started my epidural around 3. Once that was in, I wasn't in pain anymore and felt so much better. They checked my cervix again and I was at 6cm. They also noticed my water wasn't completely broken, so that was taken care of next. After that, I seemed to be stuck. They started pitocin around 9:30am and I started to feel unbearable pressure 30 minutes later. I was checked again and they told me we were ready to go.

We had to wake up my SO who had passed out on the couch at that point. The midwife, her student, and my L&D nurse got everything together. I started to push around 10:30. They told me to push as hard as I could since the baby was posterior...that didn't work! At 11:33 Teagan Marie was born, posterior and all. She was about 5lbs 15 oz and 19 in long. My SO cut the cord as she laid on my chest for skin to skin. She had a great apgar score and was beautiful. I felt so relieved and happy at that point. I didn't even care about being stitched up (I had a first degree tear). I looked over at my SO and he was crying. I had held it together until then, but I cried too. I can definitely say it was one of the best experiences of my life. I feel so thankful for an uneventful labor and healthy baby.

She was jaundice because of our incompatible blood types. We've been to the dr twice since we left the hospital, but the doctor said her levels are just fine. She is almost back up to her birth weight now and breastfeeding is going fine!

Thanks for reading and all the positive comments on my previous post. You ladies are awesome. Here are some pictures.
